Nvidia Corp. plans to introduce three new GeForce GTX graphics cards later this month, according to a new media report. The new graphics cards will offer different levels of performance and will address various market segments.
Three new graphics cards to be announced are GeForce GTX 960, GeForce GTX 960 Ti and GeForce GTX 965 Ti, reports Wccftech web-site. Although the graphics boards will have similar model numbers, they are projected to be powered by different graphics processing units and therefore will offer completely different levels of performance.
The GeForce GTX 960 is projected to be based on a brand-new code-named GM206 chip with 128-bit memory bus and unknown amount of stream processors. The GeForce GTX 960 Ti and GeForce GTX 965 Ti are reportedly powered by cut-down GM204 graphics processors with 256-bit memory bus. The GeForce GTX 960 Ti will sport 1280 stream processors, whereas the GeForce GTX 965 Ti will feature 1536 stream processors.
Given the fact that the GeForce GTX 960 sports a rather low-performance graphics processing unit, the card will barely beat the GeForce GTX 760, according to data published by Iyd.kr. The GeForce GTX 960 Ti and 965 Ti graphics boards will offer considerably higher performance, which is comparable to that of the GeForce GTX 780.
It is expected that all three new GeForce GTX graphics cards will be announced on the 22nd of January, 2015.
Nvidia did not comment on the news-story.

KitGuru Says: Although performance of the GeForce GTX 960 graphics card does not seem to be high, its success on the market will depend on its price.
So…where’s the GTX 980 Ti? Their current cards, although great for value and performance already, could use some price cuts 😛
2x 965Ti’s could be really interesting. If two of them beats out a single 980 for a similar price then I might consider getting them.
My only wish is I hope it will be very very cheap. If possible cheaper than $100…
ug this is looking bad for me to get a gfx card upgrade cuz the 960 isnt looking so good and if it is $200 then that means 960 ti is going to be what? :/
but why? if two of them cost the same, choosing the single GPU option is much better choice if the performance is similar. You could even slit the 980 in the future for even bigger performance boost.
2x 965Ti’s will offer considerably higher performance than a single 980., but taking into account all the disadvantages of SLI you’re better off with a single GPU.
It’s going to cost less than a single 980 for 2 of those 965Tis if they are real cards. 2 970s is about price parity with a single 980 in the UK, or a little more/less depending on current deals.
I had one 970 was not too happy with performance on 2560×1440 got 2 of em now everything is godlike and I am 4King a lot of new games no problem. Used to have 2 670s the sli support has gotten a lot better over the years.
Based on the scores, if 960 comes at $200, then AMD is safe this time. They wouldn’t have to face a second 970. They will just rebrand 285 as 385 and throw it at 280’s price range, introduce the canceled 285X as 385X and easily beat 960Ti in price/performance. 965Ti will be easily counter by 290 or whatever it comes in it’s place, a simple rebrand or a more efficient product.
If 960 comes at $150 and 750’s see a price drop and rebrand as 940’s for example, then AMD will have an even more serious problem than 970, in it’s hands.
My experience with 2 970s was not a good one at 4K with a lot of stuttering and performace issues. With a single 980 evethough framerates are lower gameplay is far smoother and with a few compromises over ther settings I can get anywhere from 30-60 fps depending on the game.
Nope, wishful thinking buddy
Well, it mainly depends on the games that you play.
I wish too 🙁
Something seems wrong on your end, ac unity, mgs gz, elite dangerous, diablo, crysis 3, garden warfare etc all no problems with good to amazing SLI scaling
AC unity was unplayable for me with SLI at 4K, at 1080 it was fine. Maybe it was fixed with later patches. Far Cry 4 was unplayable too. Dragon Age was also far less smoother than with a single GPU. Shadow of mordor was ok and advance warfare was good as was alien isolation. I am not talking about framerates or scaling but rather about stuttering issues.
All these new cards.. I just want Nvidia to make SLI more efficient past two gpu’s. As of right now in my eyes when it comes to scaling AMD is dominating it with it’s new CF tech.
Wow different experience to me. Soon as I whacked in my 2nd 970 my performance in everything was improved. My FPS in FC4 Doubled literally and there was actually less stutter with SLI than when I had 1….
You’re at 2560×1440 though right? I believe the issue is with 4K and SLI with the maxwell cards. Some sort of bug with the drivers. Did you notice stuttering with a single card? For me both 970 and 980 where buttery smooth when running a single GPU. I’ve tried all the major 970’s including msi, asus, evga and gigabyte and they all offered exceptionally smooth gameplay.
It was just as smooth with 2. I noticed an improvement with sli over my old 670 setup. The 4K SLI issue was fixed a while back. MGS GZ 4K DSR buttery smooth 60fps maxed out no stutter, no lag no nothing.
Check you VRAM usage – at 2560×1440 AC Unity will eat ALL of a 980’s VRAM (easily) and you could be experience swapping stutters as a result. At 4k it’s almost a certainty (i would guess) and one of the reasons I stuck with 1440p/120hz/gsync as my gaming solution with SLI’d 980s.
It runs fine with a single 980 with no stutters at around 40fps with high settings and FXAA after the latest patch. The issue was with SLI but it might have been fixed since then.
I’m still waiting for the the Rift or at least an IPS/144Hz/1440p/G-Sync/28″+ Monitor before I upgrade from my SLI’d 560Ti’s. They score almost 9k in 3dMark 11, so going with SLI was definitely the best bang for the buck back in 2011, and I plan to do it again with the right cards.
Now if they can only get those 20nm… wait I mean 16nm that is out the down, maybe Q2 2016. It’s weird how they made the GTX 960 look like the top graphics card over the Ti versions when in fact it’s the lowest one in the family, weird.

The graph is a lie, according to Guru3d it’s from a guy who goes on their forums with ‘guesstimates’ when he doesn’t actually have them to test .
All I’m hoping for is a pretty cooler.
I’m currently using an Asus GTX 760 in a mITX case and its heating up like a mofo, so I’m in the market for a blower style card, so the heat gets pumped out the back instead of into my case.
980 is too expensive.
970 is in my price range, but I’d prefer a reference style 980 cooler, and those are impossible to find in canada. Would need to drive to the states or order from the UK at almost the same cost as a 980.
If the 960, or 960ti, of 965 whatever they’re bringing out comes with a decent looking rear exhaust cooler, I’d pay for one right now.
This man knows what’s up. You are spot on with pricing. Depending on the price the Vanilla-GTX960 could either big a huge hit or a tiny whimper.
Seems this time of year, we see something like in previous editions. To say, after a couple years, some 600 series are almost as ‘good’ as these ‘new additions’.
I suppose its all about cyclic marketing, making the last effort towards revenue from flagship tech.
Titans are gone, the ‘new flagship’ design is on the way… anyone’s guess but I expect we will see bandwidth go back to 336+ as a standard and 6GB…
