UK police have arrested second Lizard Squad member

The UK police have arrested a second member of online troll group, Lizard Squad, following the Christmas day DDOS attacks on Xbox Live and the PlayStation Network. An 18 year old was taken in to custody today after being linked directly to the attacks.

The arrest was carried out by the South East Regional Organised Crime Unit and took place in Southport, although the name of the Lizard Squad member has not been revealed. The arrest came about following a joint investigation between UK authorities and the FBI, which have been trying to track down Lizard Squad members following the DDOS attacks on Sony and Microsoft.

This is the second arrest made in connection to the attacks, another UK resident was arrested earlier this month. This investigation is still in the early stages according to reports so it is possible that more arrests will follow eventually.

The newly arrested 18 year old was done so on suspicion of “unauthorized access to computer material” as well as “threats to kill”. It is currently unknown when this case will make its way to court or when charges will be filed.

KitGuru Says: Two members of Lizard Squad have been arrested but it is currently unknown exactly how many people belong to the group. It is possible that other members of the group covered up their tracks better, which may make it harder to arrest them, either way, we should find out more information over the next few months.

  1. Good, I hope they get them all, annoying kids. There are better targets to DDOS than gaming networks such as the 70+ isis linked sites that Anonymous have taken down in the last 24hrs (those weren’t DDOS attacks though 😀 )

  2. I think they deserve a medal, they brought the true spirit of christmas back to homes across the world….. family and communication face to face is more important than a fucking games console

  3. The flip side of the coin is that thousands of children cired there eye’s out as their new toys woudln’t work.
Many people on call centers heard endless greif over the phone. Mate of mine works for the Game call center and he was explaining some of the calls he had over the few days after christmas.
Some people treat call center staff like everything is their fault. 3 of his collegues had to go home from stress.

  4. They are also a bunch of mindless adolescents, much like myself, who have no constructive purpose in the world.

  5. Oh? What of the people that do early morning/afternoon xmas together then go off to do their own thing? Or vice versa and do their Xmas in the evening? What about the people that don’t celebrate Xmas at all? No one should be able to dictate how others can and should spend their time.

  6. Haha, I grew up in Southport. Most of the kids there are just really bored because the council took away all of the stuff for them to do. I guess they’re regretting that now, huh?

  7. go home from stress? are they fucking alright like, i’ve worked in a call centre before and you do get a lot of shit but having to go home from stress? why do people take that shit to heart, if someone tells you to “fuckoff” down the phone just simply say “i will do sir you have a lovely day now”. going home from stress, jesus fucking christ. I’d hate to see what they’re like in a real job, something that actually takes a bit of effort

  8. I used to play a lot of competitive call of duty, sometime’s for money and you can actually get booted or “DDos” attack on your internet which has cost me a bit of money actually, they would simply just get your IP address and flood it so your internet doesn’t work, and if your IP address is static they could keep your offline until you eventually got your IP address changed. kids like these just ruin things like competitive call of duty and gaming on a whole, for many people like myself. I’m actually from Liverpool which is near Southport and would love to know where this lad lives, would love to go put his windows through. I’ve been hacked by these kids before, had credit card details accessed and them purchasing things on my paypal. They can get all sorts of information of yours without you knowing it’s an absolute joke! It’s good to finally here these idiots are getting locked up

  9. you’re a fucking idiot

  10. FBI and other intelligence Agency can also use them for better purposes.

DDOS attacks are among the lowest level of “hacking” and anyone can do it. litterally anyone. Hell, you can pay people to do it in which case all yo need is £20 and a finger to click the button. The only difference between angry kids on Minecraft and groups of angry kids like Lizard squad is a bigger server farm and the care to hide their IP

  12. Because not all people see things as black and white as that. I’ve done time in first line support in a call center as well and I see things the same as you. But not everyone does.
    Stress effects everyone differently.
