The Samsung Galaxy S5 is finally starting to receive the Android 5.0 Lollipop update. Samsung began rolling out the latest version of Google's OS earlier this week, these updates usually happen in waves so some people may not have access just yet but it won't take too long.
As always, Android will be bundled with the Samsung made Touch Wiz skin, which may be receiving a design overhaul with the launch of the Galaxy S6 in a few months time. Samsung's Lollipop update is based on slightly older code, which did contain some bugs, so there may be an issue or two on launch.
New features that Samsung Galaxy S5 owners can expect include Mirror Link, improved fingerprint sensor functionality thanks to new drivers as well as lockscreen and heads-up notifications.
While stock Android users will now be running 5.0.1, Samsung users will be stuck with 5.0 for a while so there may be some bugs left in the older code. There's no telling how long it will take for Samsung to issue its next update but hopefully the company can start to speed things up a bit once the Galaxy S6 launches.

KitGuru Says: The HTC One M8 should also be receiving the Android Lollipop update this month. Hopefully if the rumors are true and Samsung does move to a more ‘stock-like' version of Touch Wiz, then the company may be able to push out updates faster.
