343 Industries delays latest Halo update

Last week 343 Industries announced that it would be beta testing its latest update to the Master Chief Collection, aiming to fix up the matchmaking once and for all. Unfortunately, the update has been delayed and the beta may no longer happen as more work is apparently needed.

The Halo Master Chief Collection originally launched back in November last year, since then the game has faced its fair share of problems with the multiplayer component and matchmaking. Since then, 343 Industries has been at work bringing the game up to shape.

“As this update contains the biggest changes to the Matchmaking system yet, we've identified that additional time and testing is required,” explained a new Halo Waypoint blog post.

“We are currently evaluating both timing and need for a CU (content update) beta with the Xbox One Preview program, as well as the final public release date in February. We'll continue to provide the latest updates here on Waypoint.”

From the sounds of it, there may not be a need for a beta test for this update after all and 343 Industries may just roll out the update with new playlist and matchmaking additions.

KitGuru Says: Halo The Master Chief Collection continues to be updated. Hopefully 343 Industries will learn from this experience and ensure that the same mistakes aren't made with Halo 5, which is due out at the end of the year.

I didn’t get the game myself, but if I had I would expect compensation. With all the possible tests a company can run these days, there is little excuse for a company with this amount of resources to release a product that under definition of law is not fit for purpose.
