Skull and Bones continues to sit in development hell as new delay announced

There was a time when people were generally looking forward to Skull and Bones but years of delays and reboots to the project have dampened that considerably. Still, Ubisoft is forging ahead with it, but it won't be releasing this year.

After being swiftly delayed out of 2022 last year, Ubisoft has now delayed Skull and Bones again, right as the release window was approaching. In Ubisoft's financial earnings report this week, the publisher confirmed that Skull and Bones is no longer coming out in 2023.

Now, Ubisoft expects to release Skull and Bones in early 2024 but at this point, I'm not sure why any gamer or investor would take a release date for this game seriously.

If the game does actually see the light of day, it should now land somewhere between January and the end of March next year.

KitGuru Says: I never want to write off a developer's work, especially when a game hasn't released yet. However, in the case of Skull and Bones, it really does feel like the time for this game to shine has long passed. Maybe we'll be surprised with a quality multiplayer pirate adventure in 2024 but I'm not counting on it.
