Counter-Strike 2 players are triggering VAC bans with mouse spins

We already had one instance of players being mistakenly VAC banned in Counter-Strike 2 this month, with AMD's Radeon Anti-Lag+ feature found to be triggering anti-cheat to kick in. Now, players have found a reproducible bug that bans you for moving your mouse in a bot-like fashion.

If you've ever been part of CS:GO's Overwatch program and reviewed some of the reported gameplay clips of in-game cheaters, a lot of the time you'll see them spinning their mouse around in rapid circles and firing off shots. It turns out, if you emulate this behaviour in Counter-Strike 2, you can trigger a VAC Live ban.

It would seem that VAC Live sees this as a spin-bot cheat, even if it doesn't detect anything fishy with your game files. Now chances are, this won't ever impact those who play the game properly, but it is concerning that goofing around in the pre-game round with your team could result in a ban.

Valve should perhaps put out a warning that confirms spin-bot like behaviour can trigger VAC Live so that players don't get caught up by mistake. Currently, Valve has not addressed this.

KitGuru Says: I think allowing VAC to pick up on bot-like behaviour quickly is a good move for the long-term health of the game. However, a clear warning should be sent out to the playerbase about this, especially if it isn't something that can be easily fixed.
