Nvidia reportedly halting RTX 4080 and 4070 Ti production to focus on Super variants

In recent weeks we've heard a lot of buzz around new RTX 40 Super graphics cards. According to reports, we can expect three SKUs, an RTX 4080 Super, a 4070 Ti Super and a 4070 Super. Backing up those claims, members of the Board Channels forum are now saying that the original RTX 4080 and RTX 4070 Ti will no longer be produced.

According to Board Channels (via VideoCardz), a website that aggregates sources and information from Nvidia, AMD, and Intel board partners, the RTX 4070 Ti and RTX 4080 will be replaced by their respective Super variants. Board partners are currently placing orders for these replacements.

It should be noted that halting the production of these cards does not necessarily mean they will be gone forever. In the past, Nvidia stopped mass manufacturing certain cards, only to restart production later.

If the rumours hold any weight, the Nvidia RTX 4070 Ti Super and RTX 4080 Super should be unveiled in early 2024.

KitGuru says: There may well be a pause on RTX 4080 and 4070 Ti production but that doesn't mean either card will be discontinued as production could start up again if demand calls for it, something Nvidia has been known to do in the past.
