Here’s all of Evolve’s monster skin unlocks

With all of the DLC controversy that's surrounded Turtle Rock's monster hunting shooter, Evolve, it's worth remembering that the game does feature a lot of unlockable content too. Yes, no one is particularly happy with the monster pricing nudge to pre-order, but there is still a lot of non-DLC content.

Take the monster skins for example. For each of the game's three main ones – Goliath, Kraken and Wraith – there's a number of skins for each of them and it looks like they will be unlockable through gameplay.

goliath

The new “Elite” skins were debuted by Turtle Rock on its official forums, where it also explained that all of them would be unlockable in-game. You would have to “earn,” them it said.

kraken

Since some the names of the skins (Magma, Poison, Wendingo etc.) seem to correspond to elements of the game's main map biomes, many people believe that unlocking them will mean you have to play on certain maps a specific number of times. Or perhaps win, as the monster, on those same maps.

wraith

Other skins like Savage Goliath will come as part of the pre-order bonuses, but Corpse Eater skins no doubt are unlocked from earning a certain achievement for munching on the remains of your hunter enemies.

Evolve releases on PC, PS4 and Xbox One in just under a week's time, on the 10th February.

KitGuru Says: I'm pretty pumped for this game's release. Skin wise, I think my favourite is the albino Goliath. Or maybe the Magma Wraith. What about you guys?

KitGuru Games: Omni-movement culminates 30 years of FPS innovation

Black Ops 6 is officially here, bringing the innovative new Omni-movement system to the game. While on the surface a relatively simple change, I argue that Treyarch intimately studied DOOM and the past 30 years of first-person shooter evolution to craft one of the most satisfying gameplay systems yet.

  1. this is another one of those games which is ripping off the public with day one ready DLC. if it is ready to ship with the game then it should ship with the game not be an extra to be bought later on.

And publishers wonder why piracy exists, maybe stop overcharging for games and DLC and who knows it might actually help to reduce people pirating your products and waiting untill they are on sale before legitimately buying them.

  2. Recolors…

  3. “If it is ready to ship with the game then it should ship with the game not be an extra to be bought later on.”

^ This I agree 100%. There is no point in release-day DLC.
Just watch and learn what CD Projekt is doing with their game already.

  4. Remember, we are getting free maps, that might be part of the reason why the DLC is so expensive. Also, I highly agree that everything that’s available day one should be just given to the players who paid for the full game, it’s just skins, are they that important? I’ll be slightly annoyed, but I’m pretty sure they have said in the past that some skins will be unlockable.

  5. It doesn’t matter whether it’s skins or add on campaigns, if it is ready to ship then it should ship with the full product, you don’t buy a car and then pay extra for the seat coverings do you?? after all they are just skins ……

  6. You do pay for custom or special seat covers though, even ones that are readily available. The game comes with specific skins, so does your car. I’m sorry, but that was a pretty bad example. It’s a new IP, I’m sure Turtle Rock doesn’t have much (if any) control over what happens with the DLC for Evolve. Now, in this case, it’s more along the lines of an individual buying a car, then the dealer pays for your gas as long as you have the vehicle. The maps are necessary, which are free, the skins are cosmetic and not necessary.

Now remember, I completely understand where you are coming from. I’d absolutely love it if all the skins were free, but is this seriously going to be the reason why people won’t buy the game? The extra hunters in the hunting season pass won’t even be available at launch, nor will Behemoth, so what are we truly complaining about? If it’s a great game, then why complain about buying something we don’t need?

  7. There is no Day 1 DLC. If you preorder you get the first DLC pack included…when its ready. Not day 1.

  8. Do you honestly believe that there is no DLC ready to ship with this game ??

I’m sorry what do you call this then ?????

  10. I was wrong you were right. The skins have totally changed my entire game and I’m wrecking anyone who didn’t get the skins.

  11. I know there is no ‘DLC’ ready to ship. No, I don’t consider skins as real DLC. I’m glad they didn’t fire the entire art department and decided to put them to work on future expansion of the game.

  12. You have never purchased a new car, obviously.

  13. actually I do own a brand new car, and I was given the choice of 4 seat coverings of which 2 were included in price and the last two were an extra £50. I obviously went with one of the inclusive coverings as they would not give me any more discount :P.

And when I say new I mean never been driven before new, 3 miles on the clock new, salesmen falling over themselves to suck up to me new…..
