The Pirate Bay might be back in some shape or form, but KickAss Torrents is now down following a domain name seizure. The .so Somalian domain of the heavily visited torrent site is now listed as banned by the .SO registry, meaning that the site's operators will need to find a new home.
KickAss Torrents is one of the sites that saw a spike in daily visitors following the takedown of The Pirate Bay. The site's popularity has obviously made it a prime target for law enforcers and copyright holders, who would obviously like to see the site down for good.
To avoid disappearing completely, KAT has moved domains several times over the last few years, the most recent of which was the .so domain. The Somalian registry has blacklisted Kickass.so as well as the scam site, Kickasstorrents.so, which is not affiliated with KAT.
There hasn't been an official confirmation on as to why the domain was seized but it was likely due to copyright complaints, as is usually the case with these things. Kickass.so is down but the KAT team has confirmed to TorrentFreak that it will be reverting to the .to domain that it previously used, so it won't be gone for long.

KitGuru Says: KickAss shouldn't face too much downtime following this, it doesn't seem to be quite as serious as the Pirate Bay seizure late last year.
I can’t be bothered ripping all my dvd’s and KickAss is my favorite place to go that seems to always have legit copies of a movie I’m looking for.
Frankly, KitGury, you should know better than this…

You could.. You know… buy them?
You either don’t know KickAss or don’t understand the concept of piracy.
He has bought them, he’s got them on DVD.
Re-read my comment. I have lots of DVD’s. I tried ripping but they took too long to do and really was more complicated than I have time for.
