First UK eSports arena opens in London next month

eSports has become a big deal over in Asia and North America with thousands of people attending pro-gaming events throughout the year and now, the UK is joining the ranks with the first UK eSports arena opening up in London next month.

In March, the Gfinity Arena will open up, taking over an old Vue cinema multiplex. The venue will be capable of taking in more than 1000 people over a weekend or around 25,000 people over the course of a season. The venue will feature all of the necessities, like a player lounge, a ticket hall, automatic ticket machines and a food stand.

The Gfinity Arena was actually announced towards the end of last year, so we've known about it for a while. The arena will open up in time for the Gfinity Championships, during which games like Hearthstone, Fifa, Counter Strike Global Offensive and League of Legends will be played, here will also be around $500,000 worth of prize money on the table.

This all follows on from an event last year at the Copperbox Arena in London, which saw 4000 people come to spectate. You can read the official announcement from Gfinity, HERE.
