Multiple Saber Interactive sources say KOTOR Remake is still in the works

While Embracer appears to be in no rush to address the status of the highly anticipated Knights of the Old Republic Remake, other sources appear to be happy to speak up on the situation. We recently heard from industry reporter Jeff Grubb, who claimed that the remake was not in active development. However, two sources working for Saber Interactive have since told Bloomberg's Jason Schreier that the game is still alive.

While Grubb has proven himself to have decent sources in the past, he may well have received bad information on this one. Jason Schreier, a games industry reporter for Bloomberg and author of multiple books covering the inner workings of the industry, has now come out to say that two sources at Saber Interactive have now told him that the KOTOR Remake is still on the works at the studio.

The KOTOR Remake was originally in development at Aspyr, a studio well known for its various ports of the original KOTOR titles, as well as several other classic Star Wars game remasters. However, Embracer Group later handed the project over to Saber Interactive in 2022. We've had no update on the game since, with Embracer Group's CEO now refusing to discuss the game during earnings calls.

While Scheirer adds that he can't confirm that the game will ever actually come out, it does appear to still be in the works for now.

KitGuru Says: Given a string of underperforming releases, financial issues and mass lay-offs, there is plenty of concern around Embracer Group and its future. Hopefully the company can begin to turn things around, as it would be a true shame to lose out on a game like KOTOR Remake.
