Despite being one of Bethesda Game Studio’s most technically proficient games, Starfield still launched with a number of issues and omissions. Fortunately, alongside improvements to HDR, optimisations and other improvements, the universe-spanning RPG will soon support DLSS 3 – as well as FSR3.
Taking to Twitter to announce the upcoming update, Bethesda Game Studios said “We've been hard at work on @StarfieldGame updates and will be putting our next one into Steam Beta next week.”
Detailing this patch, they continued, “This update will feature Nvidia DLSS support with frame generation, display and HDR controls for supported systems, and other optimizations and improvements. You'll be able to opt-in to try it via the Steam Beta options. We’d love your feedback before it goes live for all PC and Xbox players after that.”
Additionally, while it will take a bit longer to implement, the team confirmed that AMD’s FSR3 will also be added in a future update, saying “Note, DLSS is for PC Nvidia users only. We’ll also have AMD FSR3 support in a future update.”
Considering the fact that many players struggled to run Starfield in a consistent manner, the addition of DLSS 3 (and FSR3 when it eventually releases) should make for a massive improvement to the overall experience. Hopefully there aren't any added unforeseen issues – though luckily we won’t have to wait long to find out.
