Epic shows off first textured Unreal Tournament map

The free version of Unreal Tournament is coming along nicely and Epic Games has just given us an update on its progress, showing off the game's first high-textured map called ‘Outpost 23'. The latest Unreal Tournament title has been in the works for a while now and is a ‘collaborative effort' between the developers and the community.

The map was actually first shown off during the Unreal Engine 4 reveal as a fly-through area. The level has received some changes and touch ups to be incorporated in to the arena shooter. New changes for Outpost 23 include an outdoors section, the surfaces are less shiny and everything appears a bit more worn down.

The new version also contains multiple working weapons like the Pulse rifle and the Flak cannon. The best part is that you can play around with it now, if you want to try out the Unreal Tournament Alpha then it can be found, HERE.

There isn't much information available right now but Epic Games is still planning on making Unreal Tournament free once it is finished. This all follows yesterday's announcement that Unreal Engine 4 would be dropping its subscription, allowing anyone to use the engine for free.

KitGuru Says: Unreal Tournament is coming along well and I am sure many are eagerly waiting for it to be finished. Have any of you tried out the alpha? What do you think of the new map?
