Deus Ex Universe to be shown at GDC next month

The Game Developers Conference is set to go ahead in March, which will be our first look at the future of games in 2015. At the event, Eidos Montreal will be showing off its new game, Deus Ex Universe, featuring AMD Tress FX 3.0 technology.

The description for the Eidos and AMD panel says that “engineers from Eidos and AMD detail the TressFX 3.0 solution used in Dawn Engine which will be the cornerstone to the development of the Deus Ex Universe projects at the studio.” The presentation will touch on scaling the tech and game from high-end PCs to gaming consoles and “focus on game requirements such as artistic control and animation support.”

TressFX technology first debuted in 2013's Tomb Raider reboot and has featured in a few more titles since. Deus Ex Universe seems to be the first major game to feature revision 3.0 of the graphics technology.

Aside from Eidos and AMD, Valve will also be appearing at GDC this year, showing off the new graphics API OpenGL Next, which will be compatible with the Source 2 engine. It is possible that Valve will have something new to show off to demonstrate new graphical advancements.

  1. I really hope this doesn’t turn into a lackluster like the last title. The originals were so good, but I felt it was severely lacking in a good story development unlike the previous titles. I did like the graphics, but it didn’t give me the same enthusiasm or enjoyment like the originals.

  2. Human Revolution was a brilliant game.

  3. Have you played the previous ones? Human Revolution was alright if you weren’t new to the Deus Ex universe. But, not nearly as what one from the older series would have come to expect. To someone who hasn’t played the previous titles, you may think it’s a pretty amazing game, but it’s not the breadwinner of the Deus Ex games from me or my friend’s perspectives. I don’t know anyone who has played the previous titles to think Human Revolutions was a better game all around. Graphics went up, everything else stayed the same or became subpar, especially the AI mentality.

  4. I consider Human Revolution on par ,if not better than the original first and clearly superior to Invisible War. HR is definitely in my top-5 of all time games, and I’ve been gaming since Atari 2600 days.

  5. Yeah, I had the original back in the day. HR was a great game that I thoroughly enjoyed. There won’t be another game like the original any time soon. There is no market for it and games have changed since then.

The gameplay, story and narrative in HR was great.
