Apparently we can expect the follow-up to the OnePlus One (which we assume will be called the OnePlus 2), to feature a more premium design when it launches later this year, following on from Samsung, which recently ditched plastic in favor of metal and glass.
According to Business Insider, the Chinese smartphone maker wants to make its next smartphone ‘look and feel more premium than the one'. The article cites anonymous sources so this is mostly speculation at this point. Apparently we can expect a metal frame.
While many will appreciate a more up to date and premium design, one of the things that drew people to the OnePlus One was the low price. Unfortunately with a more expensive build, there will likely be a higher price as well.
The manufacturer has already confirmed that it will continue to try to keep costs down without skimping on the hardware but sometimes a higher price can't be avoided. If OnePlus started using metal and glass, it would obviously cost more than a plastic device.
The OnePlus 2 is expected to launch sometime within the next few months, following several of this year's big flagships.

KitGuru Says: Given how great the OnePlus One was for value, it will be interesting to see how the company can step things up with its follow-up device. Are any of you guys looking forward to a OnePlus 2?
I got my OnePlus One back in August, and let me get one thing straight, this phone feels and looks premium quality. So far no scratches whatsoever, which is the longest I’ve ever had a phone in pristine condition. I don’t care about a metal frame. If the plastic works perfect, why the hell change it?
