GOG is giving away Rise of the Triad for free

GOG.com is currently giving away 30,000 copies of the 2013 remake of Rise of the Triad for free. The offer is still available but will run out once all 30,000 copies are claimed, at the time of writing, there are still 19,000 copies up for grabs so you might want to be quick.

Once the copies run out, Rise of the Triad will then go on sale at 80 per cent off so if you can't grab it for free, you can at least get it fairly cheap. Unreal Tournament 2004, Alien Vs Predator and SiN Gold will also be going on sale.

There is also an update in the works for Rise of the Triad, allowing Steam owners and GOG owners to still play together, so there won't be a staggered player base. The retro style arena shooter originally launched in July 2013. It was a remake of the well received 90's shooter, Rise of the Triad: Dark War.

This is the latest in a string of GOG giveaways, last year the company gave away copies of the original Fallout games and even the original Dungeon Keeper following the disappointing release of Dungeon Keeper on mobile platforms.

You can redeem your copy, HERE. Beware though, the site is facing heavy load and responding very slowly right now.

Update: All 30,000 free copies are now gone.

KitGuru Says: These copies are disappearing very fast so you will need to act quickly.

  1. hmm. Not free or on sale at the moment…

  2. not showing free for me

  3. Thank you for this.. Worked quick n easy for me 🙂

  4. First come first served promotions always feel like they do more harm than good to me. With time zone differences or just plain people being at work when it kicked off, the majority of people seeing this for the first time and its well after all the keys have gone. Their only experience of this offer is a negative one.

Surely they did this to get positive attention and generate goodwill towards their brand. If I was going to give away 30k free keys I’d say free game draw, enter your details here and we will pick 30k randomly in one week. Everyone gets time to enter, the news story lives long enough to get picked up and passed around and nobody feels unfairly treated.

I’d also make a big deal that this is the reason we are doing the promotion this way. The gaming community laps this kind of honesty up like the recent announcement that of the cities: skylines team vs piracy.

I’m not being bitter either as I already own ROTT 🙂
