Russia is getting a free to play Halo game on PC

It looks like Russia is getting a new free to play Halo game as Microsoft has partnered up with Saber Interactive and Innova Systems to develop a ‘Halo Online' for the PC. The game is currently in closed beta over in Russia and there is no campaign mode in the game.

Halo Online also uses a “heavily modified” version of the Halo 3 engine, allowing the game to run on lower end PCs. None of the major Halo titles have come to the PC since Halo 2, although we have had two spin-off titles in the form of Spartan Assault and Spartan Strike.

The game is set on a “secret UNSC space installation called Anvil, where Spartan-IV soldiers train together in war exercises to sharpen their battle skills and test experimental technology.”

Halo Online was built specifically for the PC so it won't be coming to the Xbox One, there are also no current plans to bring the game to other territories outside of Russia, there is also no final launch date so the closed beta could go on for a while.

KitGuru Says: Halo Online appears to just be a free to play multiplayer shooter so it doesn't sound like we are missing out on much elsewhere in the world. However, it would be nice if Microsoft would bring more Halo games to the PC.
