Samsung might let you remove bloatware apps from Galaxy S6

Samsung's latest duo of flagships launch soon, the Galaxy S6 and the S6 Edge. Both devices will be sporting a new version of Touch Wiz, which has significantly cut back on the amount of bloatware. However, Samsung might finally allow users to delete any of its stock apps should they want to.

Obviously there will be some Samsung-made apps pre-installed on the Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge but they may actually be uninstallable this time around, something that has required rooting a device to achieve in the past. If this turns out to be true, then it will be very easy to remove all bloatware apps from the new phone.

Many smartphone manufacturers use pre-installed apps as a way to promote their own services, or take licensing money to promote third-party apps instead.

Being able to remove certain unwanted stock apps right off the bat would be a welcome change from Samsung and would lead to a much cleaner Touch Wiz/Android experience. This move comes after a new South Korean law ruled that all apps should be removable by users. It is not yet known if Samsung will only let South Korean customers remove its pre-installed apps.

KitGuru Says: It isn't clear right now if Samsung will make pre-installed apps removable outside of South Korea but it would be a nice move on their part, it might also make Touch Wiz a more attractive option as right now, not a lot of people like the skin all that much.

  1. This would be a strong move and would definitely push me towards getting the S6 over the M9.

  2. you can only deactivate them, not uninstall. Besides, thats the Note Edge, not the S6, please get your Pictures right
