Apple is no longer supporting installs of Windows 7 on Mac OS X machines via the Boot Camp dual-booting tool. The change-over actually quietly happened earlier this month and was noted in an updated Apple support page, although it largely went unnoticed until fairly recently.
Apple updated its boot-camp page on its support site on the 10th of March, noting that the latest Macbook Pro and Macbook Air machines would not boot Windows 7, leaving dual-booters with just Windows 8 and Windows 10 as options.
For those who don't know, Boot Camp is Apple's own tool, allowing users to partition their OS X hard drives and install a copy of Windows, although only certain versions of Windows are compatible with certain Apple made machines. The tool was first introduced back in 2006, discontinued in 2010 and then reinstated shortly after.
Windows 7 has been one of the most popular versions of Microsoft's OS, with many sticking to it over Windows 8. Apple did not say why it dropped support for Windows 7 on its new Macs.

KitGuru Says: This will only affect those looking to use Boot Camp on one of the new Macbooks, which Apple launched a few weeks back. Do any of you guys use Boot Camp on a Mac? I've been trying out the Windows 10 technical preview on my Macbook personally.
