RoboCop: Rogue City becomes publisher’s best ever launch

2023 has been an interesting year for publisher Nacon, with the French company having launched arguably one of the worst games of the year in the form of The Lord of the Rings: Gollum. That said, the publisher has also released their most successful game ever, with RoboCop: Rogue City becoming Nacon’s “best ever launch.”

Making the announcement via a press release, publisher Nacon revealed that the recently-released RoboCop: Rogue City has managed to achieve the best launch in the publisher’s history, saying:

“Earning 92% positive reviews on the Steam platform, the game won over 435,000 players in the space of 2 weeks, and racked up 2.7 million active game sessions.”

Speaking on this success, Alain Falc – the CEO of Nacon – said “RoboCop: Rogue City has exceeded our expectations, and achieved a genuine feat as far as NACON is concerned. We are really proud to have been able to work with the studio Teyon on this game created by and for RoboCop die-hards. We would also like to thank MGM for the trust they placed in us throughout this collaboration, as well as all the players who have contributed to making this release such a great success.”

While Rogue City was met with mixed reviews from critics, the game has seen a tremendous amount of success from fans of the franchise, with players commending the game’s attention to detail and respect towards RoboCop’s history.

In the wake of the overwhelming failure of The Lord of the Rings: Gollum, it is encouraging to see that not all of Nacon’s licensed efforts have been bombs – especially with how long it’s been since the last RoboCop game.
