Epic Games’ Fortnite helped pave the way for the relatively recent trend in gaming which sees all manner of IPs crossover with various live-service titles. Despite not having characters per-se, Epic has now announced that Lightning McQueen from the Disney Pixar film ‘Cars’ is coming to Rocket League.
Making the announcement on their blog, the team at Psyonix said “Listen, there’s only one Lightning McQueen. But thanks to the newest in Soccar simulation technology, you can have your very own precision instrument of speed and aerodynamics in Rocket League! Equip the Disney and Pixar’s Cars-inspired Lightning McQueen Car, and you’ll be hoisting the Piston Cup in no time.”
Available from today, the Lighting McQueen mega bundle will set you back a pretty penny, costing 2500 credits (around £17). That said, the bundle does include a decent number of items, namely:
- Lightning McQueen Car (Dominus Hitbox)
- Rust-eze Decal
- Dinoco Decal
- Cruisin' Decal
- Lightyear Racing Wheels
- Lightyear Dinoco Wheels
- Lightyear Whitewall Wheels
- Ka-chow Goal Explosion
- Lightning McQueen Player Banner
- “Life Is A Highway” Player Anthem by Rascal Flatts
Rocket League has had a surprising number of crossovers ever since the game first launched back in 2015, including vehicles inspired by Twisted Metal; Game of Thrones; Back to the Future; Halo and Batman – to name a few.
It’ll be interesting to see whether Epic begins to introduce more collabs such as this to Rocket League in the future, especially with the game set to remove player-to-player trading next month.
