Microsoft’s Spartan browser will arrive in next Windows 10 build

Microsoft has confirmed that its technical preview users will finally get their hands on the Project Spartan browser in the next build of Windows 10. The browser is already set to take over from Internet Explorer and will likely launch under a new name by the time Windows 10 is ready to release.

The new browser was first shown off back in January, using a brand new web engine and packing in a host of new features not found on Internet Explorer. Cortana will also be integrated with the browser, although Cortana functionality has not yet unlocked in all regions for technical preview users.

Internet Explorer will still be around for compatibility purposes in certain use cases. It will likely only be  touched by Windows Enterprise users in offices or in schools.

Microsoft's Joe Belfiore has also said that there will be more features added in to the Spartan browser before its final release with Windows 10. The Spartan preview is not yet polished and is only included in the technical preview for feedback purposes, just like the rest of the operating system.

KitGuru Says: Project Spartan doesn't have a final name yet but a lot of people seem to be hoping that Microsoft keeps the Spartan name, it would fit in well with Cortana, although Microsoft might not want to name so many key parts of its operating system after parts of  the Halo universe. Are any of you guys using the Windows 10 technical preview? What do you think of it so far?
