HBO Go is going to be added to Sling TV

HBO Go is going to be added to Sling TV just in time for the next season of Game of Thrones. Sling TV subscribers will be able to watch HBO shows live as well as via video on demand without needing a cable subscription.

Sling TV and HBO have not yet given a date but the service will be available before the season premieres of Silicon Valley and Game of Thrones on the 12th of April.

Sling TV is an internet TV service looking to offer live TV content to those who don’t want a cable subscription. It currently features channels like TNT, ESPN, Cartoon Network/Adult Swim, Food Network and the Disney Channel.

The basic package costs $20 a month but there are some additional channel packages that can be added on top for $5 each. Those wanting HBO content will need to pay an extra $15 a month though, which is the same amount that it would cost you to subscribe through Apple TV or HBONow.com.

Sling TV can be accessed on a range of devices including the Xbox One and Windows PC. Sony has its own TV streaming service on the way, which will cost $50 to $70 per month depending on the bundle, which is pretty steep by comparison.

The service is currently only available in the US.

KitGuru Says: Sling TV is a good idea and it is probably something that I would pay for if it weren’t limited to those in the US. This is a start though, hopefully more networks will get on-board with Internet TV and eventually, maybe we can even get rid of geo-blocks.
