Man faces fine for taking PC outside and shooting it eight times

Getting a PC to work properly can be stressful at times and troubleshooting can be hard work, so when turning it off and on again simply won't cut it, what option do you really have left other than emptying a clip of ammo in to your desktop?

37-year-old Lucas Hinch from  Colorado simply had enough of his Dell XPS 410 desktop from 2012, so one day he decided to take it out back and put it out of its misery for good. According to the official police log “He was fed up with fighting his computer for the last several months”. You can see the damage for yourself below:

Unfortunately for Hinch, it is actually illegal to discharge a firearm within city limits in the state of Colorado, so he will likely have to pay a fine. He did tell the police that he did not realize he was breaking the law at the time but a judge will still need to review the case and decide what happens next.

KitGuru Says: For those wondering, the Dell XPS 410 is fitted with an Intel Core 2 Duo E6600, 2GB of RAM and an Nvidia GeForce 7900GS- to be fair, If I was stuck with that machine, I would probably want to shoot it as well.

The launch of the new Intel Core Ultra 200S family of CPUs along with Z890 motherboards was a thorny process. KitGuru suffered along with pretty much every other review site on the planet and you may have noticed we held off from reviewing of the Core Ultra 9 285K, Core Ultra 7 265K and Core Ultra 5 245K as it is clear to us that Intel has some work to do before this platform is ready for action.

  1. I can understand his frustration, but he should have contacted an expert. Maybe pawned it off onto someone else to deal with it. =)

  2. if only PCs could be upgraded. OH WAIT

  3. Gary 'Gazza' Keen

With specs like that the cost of those bullets would’ve probably given him a better PC xD

  4. i agree with him he has the right to shoot that crappy PC really a 256 mb graphics card?? and a 2006 core2 duo i would really want to shoot it with a rifle instead of a pistol

  5. I understand why he did it, and dont blame him. The fact that its illegal to shoot at stuff at his place is well… unfortunate. Make him pay like 500$ and let him be. (thats a reasonable price for such right?… because I honestly have no idea about this stuff)

  6. From 2006 ,shooting was a bit drastic but understandable as its a Dell =P.Better option would have been to donate to charity.

  7. Sure thing, destroy the hardware because of software problems. That’s brilliant.
I would just re-purpose the hardware but HECK let’s all agree that shooting the PC was the right thing to do.

    people these days…

“The judge will still need to review the case”
Seems easy enough to review the case, just look at it, there’s eight bullet holes in it XD

  9. At least, the case won’t have heat issues now.

  10. OH WAIT, with he’d need a new processor, and a new motherboard to go along with that new processor and some ram to go along with all of that and maybe a new psu since he’d most likely get a haswell, and a new case so that he wouldn’t be reminded of how slow it previously was, and maybe a newer graphics card if he wants to game a little, DAYUM HE NEEDED TO REPLACE EVERYTHING

  11. In my experience buckshot is ideal for the destruction of uncooperative electronics.

  12. This is why everything about computers should be free so people wouldn’t call gamers agressive

    Totally a scam

  16. He bought… a machine… in 2012… with a Core 2 Duo, 2GB of RAM and a 7900GS?

How the hell and who the hell sold that?
