First announced all the way back in 2020, we had seen essentially nothing surrounding the next Mass Effect game – until just a few days ago when a teaser was released in celebration of N7 Day. That said, according to one insider, Mass Effect fans will have to wait for quite a bit longer to actually play the game as the next entry in the series will reportedly not come out until 2028 at the earliest.
As part of Jeff Grubb’s ‘Game Mess Mornings’ podcast, the industry insider spoke on the most recent teaser for Mass Effect, adding that the game is still years away from release, saying:
“This game is just nowhere near coming out. This is not– this is umm I was told like so when they announced or like when they revealed Dragon Age Dreadwolf in 2018, this is similar in terms of timeline where that was announced in 2018 and we’re not getting that game 'til maybe next year. So now do the math for that and we’re talking 2029 for Mass Effect 5. It is so far away.”
As mentioned by Grubb, alongside ME5, Bioware is currently working on Dragon Age Dreadwolf and so it makes sense that all hands cannot be on deck for Mass Effect until Dreadwolf is out.
As such, while it is not surprising to see that Mass Effect is still many years away, the fact that it will have been 12 years since Andromeda by the time ME5 comes out is quite a hard pill to swallow.
