Samsung is gearing up to reveal its first quarter 2015 earnings soon so the company has released an earnings guide for investors, which tells a similar story to the last few, Samsung is expecting to see a sizable dip in profit due to dwindling sales of its devices.
Samsung currently predicts that it made around $5.4 billion in operating profit between January and March, just before the announcement of the Samsung Galaxy S6. This represents a 12 per cent sales decline and amounts to a 30 per cent drop in profit from the same time period last year.
Samsung hasn't said much else at this time but we already knew that its sales were trending downwards for Galaxy branded devices. Obviously, all of these figures were taken before the announcements of the Samsung Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge, which are performing very well when it comes to pre-orders.
Many critics are already very impressed with the Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge and are expecting it to do very well in sales. Samsung is also expecting this to push demand for curved displays and is rumored to be planning the Samsung Galaxy S7 with a similar display to the S6 Edge.

KitGuru Says: The Samsung Galaxy S4 and Galaxy S5 were pretty disappointing devices, not really doing much to differentiate themselves from the Galaxy S3, which did very well for Samsung. However, The Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge is looking like a very impressive device and could get many people interested in the Galaxy brand once again. Are any of you guys using a Samsung smartphone? Are you thinking of upgrading to the S6 or S6 Edge?
I have much respect for samsung since they dumped the qualcom throttledragon (finally) for their exynos chips. Im an avid samsung user since the i9000, and always held exynos in high regard, while seeing qualcomm as some kind of cheap replacement. Also in that perspective i had zero to no intrest in the 4 and 5 (europe always got throttlecores there) I also liked deep blacks of amoled more than white screens that hurt my eyes at night.
Then again the embedded battery and no sd slot makes me throw away everything I just said, and still think Samsung needs to go back to their roots: innovation but with regard to freedom. If I wanted a playmobile cellphone where everything is walled, Id be going for an iPhone anyways, thank you very much.
My current position on the current smartphone market? Get me the hell out of here.
mr. s4 was the best selling galaxy device ever selling 80 million smartphones. It was s5 who did not perform well by just 11 million of sales. you cant compare s4 with s5. s4 is still best smartphone as s6 is not for sale yet. (only pre orders)
Cheap replacement? Qualcomm offered much better per core performance and a much better radio wireless implementation as Qualcomm uses custom cores while Exynos uses vainilla ARM cores. That is why the S3 US had much better single threaded/gaming performance than the international version, only on multithreaded apps, the Exynos version came out ahead by 12%. I had the Galaxy 1, 2 and 3, all based on Exynos and loved them, but they were much power inefficient and their GPS left a lot to be desired.

Ok Fair enough. But the kraitcore era has been over for some time now, don’t you agree? They should have switched to armv8 faster to keep the advantage. And im not talking about the 64bit aspect like an apple fanboy, but those cores are simply faster (younger products generally are, durrrrrrr)
They didnt switch fast enough and now they are paying the price.
Custom design or not, brand new Arm designs always set the new standard.
