The Assassin's Creed movie has been in the making for quite a while now. However, it looks like everything is finally coming together with filming due to begin in September, according to actor, Michael Fassbender, who will be playing an unspecified role in the film.
In an interview with ComingSoon, the actor did not go in to detail on what part he will play or how it will tie in to the universe. However, he did comment on the constant delays for the film, sating that “it just takes time to get a good story together”.
He then went on to confirm that filming will begin in September. Aside from that though, Ubisoft has not revealed any official plot details or talked about how it will tie in to the Assassin's Creed Universe. So far, the series has been set in many different time periods and places in the world.
The Assassin's Creed movie is expected to release on the 21st of December 2016. It will be produced by New Regency and 20th Century Fox.

KitGuru Says: Traditionally, movies based on video games have not turned out that well. However, this Assassin's Creed film has been in the making for a couple of years now and has been through several script iterations. It will be interesting to see how it turns out next year.
It had better be more than just a circle jerk of a movie.
I hope that it is based upon the first games setting.
