Today Microsoft officially revealed all of the different editions of Windows 10. This is common practice for Microsoft, the company has regularly launched ‘Home', ‘Pro' and ‘Enterprise' editions of its operating systems for years and Windows 10 won't be breaking tradition.
Windows 10 Home is Microsoft's “consumer-focused” edition of the OS, which will ship on most pre-built PCs and laptops. It will include all of the main features of Windows 10 but there will also be a Windows 10 Pro edition, as you would expect. The pro edition will include the ability for businesses to connect domains to take advantage of some business features.
Microsoft is renaming Windows Phone to Windows Mobile, although all Microsoft smartphones will technically be running Windows 10. Windows Mobile will take advantage of touch oriented apps and a touch oriented user interface. There will also be an Enterprise edition of Windows Mobile, which is designed for large businesses with lots of devices.
Aside from the several main editions of the operating system, there will be Windows 10 Education, Windows 10 IoT Core and Windows 10 Enterprise. In total, there will be seven editions of Microsoft's latest operating system, which still doesn't have a release date.

KitGuru Says: All of the different editions of Windows will return with Windows 10. Aside from the changes to Windows Mobile, Windows Education and IoT Core, not much is different. Are any of you planning on upgrading to Windows 10 this Summer? Which version of Windows are you running currently?

At least all the editions have a valid reason for being this time, unlike the Basic/Home Basic/Home Premium/Professional/Enterprise/Ultimate we got with Vista and 7.
I’m already running Windows 10 as my main OS and plan on going to RTM as soon as it’s available. I’m really enjoying it much more than I ever did 8/8.1.
Only have one use for this OS, Gaming on DX12. Otherwise everything else will be on win7 partition.
No mention of the Pi version?
How is it for bugs at the moment? I’ve used once or twice around my friends house on the tech preview but have been holding off installing it.
Windows 10 IoT Core is the Pi version I think although I’m not 100%
I’m on Windows 8.1 Pro and will be on Windows 10 Pro ASAP !
I haven’t run into any showstoppers on the latest Insider Preview build (10074). There are a few little annoying ones, like notification center constantly asking me to record a game clip with the Xbox app, but overall it’s pretty solid.
so… it went from windows mobile to windows phone and now back to windows mobile again?
Which Windows 8 do you get for free after updating from W7/8?
but windows 7 sucks 🙁
Currently Windows 10 pro Insider Preview, build 10074.
Still some driver issues with my R9 290 🙁
You don’t, If you have Windows 7 or Windows 8.1 then you get Windows 10 free. Normally it’s the Pro version.
Too right, I was glad to get rid of Windows 7.
The only reason for me to upgrade from Windows 8.1 Pro to Windows 10 Pro is DirectX 12. I hate the start menu in 10 and really hope it’s optional in the final version.
Don’t try to tell that to people like this. They don’t like learning, and don’t adjust well. That is the main reason people dislike Win8.
i will join only about 3-6 months after release i dont want to be a victim of a huge security or system bug on release day
Oh man, that’s true. A lot of people are hating on the Start screen. As if you would look at the Start screen while using full screen programs…
Win 8 has both issues and benefits, but you’re right that people are hating. Especially when Start8 or StartIsBack or Classic Shell etc are present.
For the truly advanced user, 8 is a love-hate relationship. I hate that I need to restart my PC every time I wish to turn off driver signature enforcement, and I hate how much vRAM it uses, but I love its speed and its multi-monitor benefits and its improvements to monitor capture via programs, etc.
8.1 pro pirate here. >.<
I’m glad I am on pro and don’t need to figure out which I need. 7 is alot. @_@
Don’t use the drivers that Windows installs automatically. Use DDU Uninstaller to wipe the drivers and then install the 15.4 beta drivers from the AMD website. I’m pretty sure that the drivers W10 installs through Windows Update are from December or January.
There are major changes coming to the start menu in the next build. I think Neowin has an overview of them in the coverage they did of leaked build 10114.
Same, but Microsoft said the Windows 10 will be available also for pirates like us.
Buuuuuuuuut windows 7 doesn’t suck.
Thanks for letting me know, I didn’t mind the start menu so much in build 9926 but this new one we currently have in build 10074 is disgusting. Day one of using Windows 8.0 I fell in love with the Start Screen.
No it wont. That was only for people in China.
The start menu is way too big, though.
You can take off all of the “modern” apps that are pinned to it, and then it’s smaller than Windows 7’s start menu.
Tried that. DDU doesn’t work with 10.
Make sure you have the newest version. I’ve been using DDU with 10 since build 10041.
