Here are some of those H1Z1 hacking apology videos

A few days ago, Daybreak Studios and former SOE head, John Smedley, announced on Twitter that if banned cheaters were willing to post a public apology to YouTube addressing the players, then they may get their accounts put back in good standing.

The video didn't guarantee that you would be unbanned, in-fact according to Smedley on Twitter, quite a few apologies were rejected. However, five people out of the 25,000 people who were banned, did manage to get their accounts back and in an effort to raise awareness of the issue of cheating in online games, Smedley tweeted them all out: [yframe url='http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PjY0sLR2oSs'] [yframe url='http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gtYxFKDfN48′]

You can find two more apology videos, HERE and HERE.

As you can imagine, some players weren't on-board with Smedley's plan to pardon hackers but given that only five people made the cut, it seems that Daybreak Studios were being fairly strict about it. In all, this was an effort to raise awareness of cheating and to show that it does have its consequences.

KitGuru Says: The apology videos were tweeted out by Smedley for the community to see. I found them a little hard to watch myself but hopefully now after being forced to apologize, these former cheaters will go back to playing fairly.

KitGuru Games: Omni-movement culminates 30 years of FPS innovation

Black Ops 6 is officially here, bringing the innovative new Omni-movement system to the game. While on the surface a relatively simple change, I argue that Treyarch intimately studied DOOM and the past 30 years of first-person shooter evolution to craft one of the most satisfying gameplay systems yet.

This is actually really pathetic wow…. Is the playerbase almost dead? Letting hackers back if they are a bunch of sados and apologise publicly…

Do you even read? 5 out of 25,000 with many apologies still being rejected.

Sure its questionable to let hackers back into the game but I’m fairly sure Daybreak Studios have a fairly decent specification about it that probably takes into account the severity of their previous hacking and the likelihood of them doing it again.

you know being Vanished forever is too brutal. let them have their chance.

  4. It’s marketing… unban 5 cheaters, the collective views of all the apologies are funny and make it go viral. It’s a means of advertising the game without having to pay for it. It’s clever.

  5. Jesus, that first guy looks really sleep deprived. Its hard to watch a guy grovel over a game like that..
