After creating the critically acclaimed Batman Arkham Trilogy, Rocksteady’s next title was announced to be Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League. While conceptually a cool idea, the title’s gameplay reveal left a lot to be desired – ultimately leading to a massive delay. Now, the team are back to show what they’ve been working on, announcing a new video series in anticipation of the game’s release,
Taking to Twitter, the official Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League page announced its resurrection, saying “Join us this Wednesday [the 15th of November] for the first episode of our brand new series, Suicide Squad Insider. In episode one, Rocksteady will unpack the story and gameplay of Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League. #SuicideSquadGame”
For the uninitiated, many believed that Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League would be a continuation of Rocksteady’s Arkham series in terms of its gameplay and mechanics. That said, upon the title’s initial gameplay reveal, it was discovered that the game falls much closer to the likes of Square Enix’s doomed Avenger’s game, with a focus on multiple characters with similar gameplay styles; damage numbers going up and an overall lack of combat design.
The visceral reaction to its gameplay ultimately led to Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League being heavily delayed. It will be interesting to see what changes have been made in the months since.
