Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora has gone Gold

First announced more than 6 years ago, Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora is set to finally release in a little under a month. Now, with weeks to go until launch, the team at Ubisoft have announced that Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora has officially gone Gold.

Making the announcement on Twitter, Ubisoft released a brief statement saying “We're extremely proud to share that #AvatarFrontiers has gone GOLD! We can't wait for you all to explore the incredible world of Pandora on December 7th. A huge congratulations to lead studio @UbiMassive, and our codev studios around the world.”

For the uninitiated, ‘Going Gold’ means that the Avatar master disc has been submitted to the game’s publisher: Ubisoft. Following the submission of the gold master, discs can be pressed with finalised software and digital storefronts can upload the 1.0 version of the game ready for release. It’s a process that every game in development goes through, and means that (aside from post-launch patches) Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora is complete and ready to play.

Considering the fact that for many years, Ubisoft’s Avatar was nowhere to be seen or heard, there were fears that the title would share a similar fate to the likes of Beyond Good and Evil 2. Luckily, this is not the case, meaning in just a few short weeks players will be able to explore the mind of James Cameron via the lush world of Pandora.
