Capcom will keep on developing Resident Evil remakes

Following the success of the Resident Evil 2, 3, and 4 remakes, Capcom has confirmed plans to continue to remake more Resident Evil games. The company has not yet disclosed which title will be the next to receive the remake treatment but in all likelihood, it will be Resident Evil 5, the next mainline game in the original series.

At this year's PlayStation partner awards ceremony in Japan, Resident Evil 4 remake director Yasuhiro Anpo (via IGN) stated that the studio will reveal their next Resident Evil remake in due time.

Many fans are speculating about which title Capcom will choose to remake next. Following the current trend, Resident Evil 5 would be the most likely. However, spin-offs such as Code: Veronica should not be discarded as options. There's also a small chance we see proper, modern remakes for Resident Evil 0 and Resident Evil 1. RE1 technically had a remake years ago, but it didn't come anywhere close to matching the ambition seen in the RE2, RE3 and RE4 remakes and is much more akin to a remaster, rather than a remake.

During the same Q&A, Resident Evil 4 remake producer Yoshiaki Hirabayashi mentioned the advantages of using Capcom's RE technology to redo Resident Evil titles, implying that they plan to use it for future projects.
