Those leaked Oculus Rift images are apparently ancient

This week, members of the Oculus subreddit unearthed some images, supposedly showing off the final consumer version of the Oculus Rift virtual reality headset, giving us a good look around the upcoming device and even a controller for it. These images were found buried in the CSS of the official Oculus website, which have since been removed.

However, it turns out that these images are quite old and won't necessarily represent the final product arriving in 2016, according to Oculus founder, Palmer Luckey, who responded to the leak by saying that while these images are real, they aren't final.

“This is an old placeholder concept image that we accidentally leaked. Everything in it is ancient, certainly nowhere close to final (as evidenced by the GPU specs and the game named ‘war'). Don't expect everything to carry through to the stream on the 11th.”

The next Oculus announcement is due to take place during a live event on the 11th of June. It is currently assumed that the consumer version of the Rift will finally be revealed and pre-orders will be announced, although this is all still up in the air right now.

KitGuru Says: The headset seen in the leaked images seem fairly legitimate, I wouldn't be surprised if the final headset did end up looking just like that. Are any of you guys looking forward to the Oculus Rift? Does your rig meet the requirements for VR?

The launch of the new Intel Core Ultra 200S family of CPUs along with Z890 motherboards was a thorny process. KitGuru suffered along with pretty much every other review site on the planet and you may have noticed we held off from reviewing of the Core Ultra 9 285K, Core Ultra 7 265K and Core Ultra 5 245K as it is clear to us that Intel has some work to do before this platform is ready for action.
