Integral unveils USB type-C flash drives with 5Gb/s transfer rate, preps 10Gb/s drives

Integral Memory, a producer of NAND flash-based computer components, has announced its first USB flash drives with both type-C and type-A connectors that boast with 5Gb/s transfer rate. The new drives are designed for new PCs with new receptacles.

The family of Integral Fusion USB drives with type-A and type-C connectors provides storage capacities of up to 64GB and comes in a compact, low-profile, zinc alloy casing. The manufacturer declares maximum transfer rate of 5Gb/s, which is around 600MB/s. The drives are compatible with both current and future personal computers, tablets and other devices.

Integral Memory is also working on USB 3.1-compatible drives with 10Gb/s transfer rate. It is unknown when such drives are set to become available.

“The Fusion USB Type-C is the first generation of a new age of connectivity that answers the demands of a multi-device world,” said Francesco Rivieccio, senior product manager at Integral Memory. “It is well-timed to answer the demands of a data hungry age, where higher resolution media and more complex apps demand increased speed and compatibility between the workplace and the home.”

The Integral Fusion family of USB drives with type-C connectors will be available Q3 2015 and prices are anticipated to be comparable to current USB flash drives.
