AMD Radeon 2015 roadmap leaks: Whole lineup now revealed

A web-site has published a slide that reveals AMD’s graphics products lineup that will be available later this year. The image does not only unveil the names and positioning of AMD’s upcoming Radeon solutions, but also code-names of the new graphics processing units from the company.

If the slide published by VideoCardz is genuine, then AMD’s new lineup of graphics adapters will consist of seven new models based on various graphics processing units. The flagship products based on the code-named “Fiji XT” and “Fiji Pro” graphics processors will not formally belong to the Radeon R9 300-series. Previously it was reported that the new boards will carry the Radeon Fury brand-name. It is noteworthy that the new Radeon Fury graphics cards based on the “Fiji” GPUs will be available a little later than the members of the Radeon R9 300-series, which may indicate that the new flagship products will not hit the market right after formal announcement of the 16th of June.

The high-end Radeon R9 390 and R9 390X will be based on the “Grenada” graphics processing units, which are claimed to be improved versions of the “Hawaii” chips with higher clock-rates and revamped architecture. Both boards will carry 8GB of memory and will cost $329 and $389, respectively, according to WccfTech. Higher clock-rates of GPU and memory will help the new cards to offer performance that will be higher than that of Nvidia’s GeForce GTX 970, but it is unclear how the Radeon R9 390-series will compare against GeForce GTX 980.

AMD also plans to introduce Radeon R9 380 with 4GB of memory based on the code-named “Antigua” chip also known as “Tonga Pro”. The product is expected to cost $235. In addition, AMD wants to offer Radeon R9 380 with 2GB of memory for $195.

AMD also intends to roll-out Radeon R7 370 and Radeon R7 360 based on the “Pitcairn” and “Bonaire” graphics processors, which have been available for years. The outdated GPUs will address $100 – $175 market segment. Keeping in mind that graphics boards based on the “Pitcairn” and “Bonaire” GPUs have been available for years, it is unlikely that the new Radeon R7 will actually get popular. People who wanted them have already bought such boards.

AMD did not comment on the news-story.

KitGuru Says: Although AMD’s Radeon R9 390-series graphics adapters may actually be rather competitive, it is obvious that they are late. AMD needed to respond to Nvidia’s GeForce GTX 970 and 980 last September, but decided to cut prices of existing solutions, not offer anything new.

  1. Look at them rebrands.. lolwut

  2. AMD get your shit together! Rebrands will kill you on the long run, people want new products, not rebranded old cards, this way intead of buying a replacement for my 7870 from amd i will have to consider going nvidia because it will start to pay off…

  3. ImpedingMadness

The inventory problem is real. They are doing everything to stop the bleeding fund just to survive another year and wait for zen.

  4. ???? there aren’t that many rebrands, it just appears that the 280X/280 are being inherited…

  5. Júlio Sencadas

No almost all R7’s are rebrands to, other articles have it well explained over the past month

  6. Júlio Sencadas

Amd needs to stop screwing arround and make true high end processors and graphics.

Good Performance/price ratio is good but it doesn’t make good profit, they need to make some good performance/price solutions and then do a true high end line to make it boom

  7. Russell Collins

Not rebrands, retooled. Not the same thing and Nvidia rebrands as well

  8. Considering the 390x will be on par with the 980(290x is when overclocked already…), perhaps it is nvidia who needs to get its shit together – kind of a shame brand new maxwells can’t keep up with AMD “rebranded old cards” when it comes to price/performance AND outright performance…

  9. “True high end” like fiji? lol. why wouldn’t you be happy that AMD is selling incredible graphics power(390x) for affordable prices? Why would any consumer be disappointed with how things are going right now?

  10. Look at them “rebrands” that still manage to go toe to toe with nvidia’s brand new GPUs that cost 150%. What’s that you say? but but but, power efficiency you say? get a laptop…

  11. TheGoodBadWeird

“Why would any consumer be disappointed with how things are going right now?”

Because AMD wants to sell cards again many of those consumers already have in their PCs since years. It’s literally a dead end for upgrades.

  12. TheGoodBadWeird

What the hell is ‘retooled’? Except for rebrands it could onl ybe some refreshes, thoigh it’s unlikely at the moment. AMD did skip further development for the old 200-series and put all their money on Zen and Fury.

Nvidia never rebranded a whole productline outside of OEM or mobile series.

  13. valgarlienheart .

I’m really intrigued by the Tonga XT (380X) The full fat Tonga could be a ‘sweet spot’ champ if priced good .

  14. Charles Charalambous

Yep with a 4GB limit on single cards with HBM and drivers that utilize way more CPU than any other company, we are yet to see how powerful FIJI actually is… One thing is for sure it’ll be better than any CPU upgrade AMD had done in the last 6 years.

Affordable prices with super high temperatures and higher power draw, bogged down by inefficient drivers. They basically need dx12 to bail them out in the CPU department and the GPU to an extent .

Although I hope Fiji is actually something Nvidia need competition, and so does Intel… Intel will not get any from AMD though….

Still remember swapping from my old 1090t rig to an 2nd gen i5 rig temporarily back in the day before I could get an I7. With the same gfx card GTX 580 I gained literally 40-80 frames in red orchestra 2 LOL. Performance increases everywhere. Hell even my friend with a first gen i5 was doing better.

Now every time a game comes out and you see benchmarks with the same gpu but going through amd and intel lines even the I3 outperforms there 8 cores.. Intel has only got better at multithreading while AMD has been sleeping.

Some people need to wake up and smell the coffee. Even my AMD Fanboy friend has admitted amd needs to be bailed out by dx12. Making the swap to intel but stickign with AMD GPUs which is fine. No problem with that people just need to say how it is.

One of my friends got AMD recently, when titanfall came out. Regrets it insanely the amount of driver issues he has had with latest games and waiting literally up to a month if not more for things to be fixed is a joke.

Something that very few AMD fans will ever admit when there is proof everywhere…

PLEASE AMD GIVE NVIDIA SERIOUS COMPETITION AND FOR THE LOVE OF GOD SORT OUT YOUR HEAT AND ENERGY ISSUES

  15. That’s coming next year with Zen (new CPU architecture with SMT and strong single core performance) and the 14nm die shrink. They probably wanted to wait for that die shrink to 14nm finFET before unleashing all new GPU’s.

This year, they’re just trying to stall for 1 more year and probably launch a whole new line next year. I wouldn’t be shocked if 2016 was like 2011, and it was all new stuff from top to bottom, optimized for 14nm.

  16. Same here. If it’s really full Tonga combined with a new 384-bit memory bus, it could be the serious sweet spot of the 300 series, and the newest thing besides Fiji.

I feel like the 380X will be the big thing to watch, if they release it.

  17. same here, want to upgrade my GB 7870 OC. The question is, 390X or 970?

  18. on par? Are you serious? 290X is at 970 Level on 1080p and a Little better in 1440p and 4k. And saying “when overclocked” is stupid, do you think you can just overclock AMD GPUs? Then you have no idea what Maxwell can do!!

  19. RosemaryMSiebert

    Note 4 starting at $750 for 32gb.@mk1

  20. I’m growing weary of everybody jumping on the “slate AMD” bandwagon with nothing but speculation. Can’t you at least wait until the cards are actually out and in the hands of the press until you start piping up.
As far as I can see, the new Radeons will be very competitive with nVidia’s line up. At the moment the 290X goes toe to toe with the 970 and the better 3rd party cards are within spitting distance of the 980. Even minor improvements will make a difference.

  21. I think the distinction here is that a ‘rebrand’ is a simple rename of an identical GPU (with everything being the same)… ‘retooling’ on the other hand might refer to same base card, but more VRAM, possibly lower power consumption and increased clocks.

As for Nvidia ‘never rebranding a whole productline’… I am using a laptop and Nvidia was notorious for rebranding their GPU’s regularly… maybe not the whole lineup (in some cases they rebranded the low and mid-range gpu, in others, only the high end), but AMD wasn’t doing it as often as Nvidia did, and considering their current situation, it is understandable.

Fury could theoretically be considered the ‘extension’ of the current lineup since its being launched with the other 3xx series cards (although it probably is in a league of its own).
So, depending on how you look at it, AMD didn’t rebrand EVERYTHING… they do have new top end gpu’s coming out (namely HBM cards).

  22. All the little kids that want completely new things at lower prices. You have a 7870 but because there is nothing new there is no upgrade path? What do you call the 280(x),285,290(x),380(x),390(x)? Downgrades? What you’re complaining about is that there is nothing brand spanking new for you to get at a cheap price. If the maturing of the die process lead to better efficiency (less heat/energy and more power/performance) then I’d call it a good thing. That plus a little more speed and OC headroom. At least for the 390 series they get double the vRAM too. Pricing is okay. Same price for the 390X and the rest is a little more expensive. But the GPUs hasn’t even been released yet so how can we expect lower prices already. You don’t start off with prices lower than the already low previous gen GPUs. Not something you do when you’re AMD and low on cash…

  23. Patience is a virtue.

  24. I don’t understand why people complain about rebrands… Its SO obvious that the radeon line is going to become a lower-end line.

And we’ll see which one of you will go for a fury or a radeon. Then you’ll forget about rebrands and brag about your new fury GPU.

    Gee……

  25. TheGoodBadWeird

I said “Nvidia never rebranded a whole productline outside of OEM or mobile series.”

Mobile include notebooks as well! AMD and Nvidia both do this there since years. We already expected the m390X (or m395x) to be just a Tonga-mobile rebrand and it came.

No matter how you try to relativate the case, AMD just rebranded the 200-series. The impact is enourmous critical. This is as comparable as if Nvidia would have skipped the 900-series and rebranded their 700-series, with only exception to bring the Titan-X / 980 Ti as top products.

There is no excuse for this and never will be!

  26. TheGoodBadWeird

To have to see it as this:
-People don’t want to pay up to 500 bucks for tech 2-4 years old hardware packed anew. Fury is no option with this gigantic price premium. Would the Fury cards start at 400 up to 600, they were still too expensive for the majority.

Most of the gamers buy in the 150 to ~350$ area. Those new and impressive HBM cards are just developed against the market trends.

  27. You make it sound so easy….

First AMD fight against Intel….their R&D is about 100 times bigger
Second they fight Nvidia wich has around 10 times their budget.

Its a miracle AMD is still alive, and Fury is almost on par with a Titan x / 980Ti…
I have nothing but respect for AMD for all that innovation they bring every now and then.

GDDR4 / GDDR5 / HMB / Mantle to push MS to dx12 it all came from this corperation.

  28. There is always the expensive market and nVidias’ Titan X is a proud example as is the i7-5960X. I don’t understand how new technology has to do with market trends. And as for the majority that you say… I’m using an HD7970 and won’t upgrade.
Now, if people have a 290X and need to update to a newer model, they are not THAT concerned about spending money so the argument of “Fury being too expensive for the majority” is a miss 🙂

Now, in the 150-350$ area, there are products that should do the job just fine. And i don’t really understand why suddenly everyone is crazy about the rebrands. nVidia has done it as also has Intel. And those two companies have quite some cash to not need any rebrands done but I didn’t see anyone bash them. (I know it’s easier to do it to the “little guy” though 🙂 )

AMDs’ financial state is really difficult, so if some rebrands buys them time until they stand on their feet, then so be it. It’s not like they sell X1900 for R7-370…

    Cheers !!!

P.S. excuse my english, i’m greek. and I hope I didn’t give the idea that I’m speaking in an angry state. I’m just trying to be reasonable 🙂

  29. Well…… http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Nvidia_graphics_processing_units
Certainly not “all” models are rebranded.. 😉

Every company does this from time to time. Hell, even intel has done it. And as i said before, it’s another thing to be “forced” to do it cause you have no money to invest in R&D and another thing to cheat on your customers…………….! *cough* 3.5 + 0.5 Gigs of ram *cough*

Now, since we’re all “rumoring” away, i’ll drop this. http://wccftech.com/amd-radeon-300-series-pricing-confirmed-aggressive/

Looking at this table, well, there are slightly different chips in there. So yes, not totally rebranded.

Still, if someone doesn’t need to update, they won’t. People from the R9 200 series will update to “fury” series. That’s all :))

    Cheers !!!

P.S. as always, excuse my poor english, I’m only greek 😀

  30. Júlio Sencadas

Just a hint to you…Too many rebranding in these past years, any intelligent guy doesn’t want old products with higher prices…

  31. Júlio Sencadas

Yeah a new card that is on pair with earlier released GPU’s, that’s fantastic…Do you see the non-sense you are saying…

  32. Júlio Sencadas

I get it you like old gpu’s with a few “new tools” and not a significant boost in performance priced as entirely new produtcts

  33. My point was that Nvidia did it all the time (in a large scheme of things it has a much bigger track record doing this).

I’m not saying that its excusable whenever either company does it, I’m simply saying I understand why AMD did it, and I don’t understand those who seems eager to blame AMD whenever it does something like this (considering their predicament).

Plus, as I already stated, it is not a complete rebrand seeing how the 3xx series will receive increased VRAM and some bumps in clocks (perhaps even lower power consumption).

  34. TheGoodBadWeird

I will tell it as often as necessary:
-There seem to be as good as no improvements for the 300-series.

Even the R9-390X is just a rebrand of the R9-290X 8GB. To add more VRAM with the same chip is a rebrand. In the past both AMD and Nvidia did at least downgrade the number. This time around AMD tries to trick the customers with a hidden number scheme change that suggest higher performance. Buyers don’t get old cards branded as new, equals attempted deception of the customerbase … bad business practice.

Where do you think the reduced power consumption will come from? There has not a single 300-series spotted with updated GCN-cores. Not even an update to GCN1.2 (Tonga) has been seen. No, instead AMD sells the same GCN1.0 junk (Pitcairn) they did since 4 years ago.

No word for this kind of dirty trick.

  35. Júlio Sencadas

Old GPU’s with slight performance boost at full price…is what they are if people wanted old gpu’s they would have already bought them by now at much lower prices…

  36. Their fault they passed on the xhoices

  37. Russell Collins

No you clearly don’t. The 28nm process has matured and has better yields. They push the hardware more than they did before as well as add more ram.

  38. Enhanced GCN 1.1.
Completely new die, higher clocks, lower TDP, new memory controllers.
Going by your definition, Haswell is a rebrand of Ivybridge is a rebrand of Sandybridge is a rebrand of Nehalem, on a smaller process.
Would you call it a rebrand if they threw in another CU?
Yes they are similar, rebrands they are not.

  39. TheGoodBadWeird

What the hell is enhanced GCN 1.1?

GCN 1.1 stays GCN 1.1! All AMD could do is bring a new production revision. But then we talk about +5% improvements at best. The chips will not suddenly get faster as if done by magic. AMD should have brought every gen to GCN1.2 as Tonga was. As it seems they did not do anything for the cores and stayed with their original tech. Except for Fiji AMD might skip any further 28nm improvements and concentrate on the future FinFET nodes. Keep in mind those guys are literally broke and their R&D-budget is at an all-times low.

Haswell was a complete refresh. Intel has overhauled the complete structure of Haswell. The change of socket and the graphic partion exclude a rebrand already. You over heard of the Tick-Tock principle of Intel?

Between the other generations have been i.e. node-shrinks and complete different TDP-classes. If they all are the same for you, we do not need to discuss any further.

  40. Enhanced GCN 1.1 is a new die just like I said.
It is Hawaii based revised with improvements.
If you think that intel are not rebrands (as do I) then why are you claiming it’s a 290x chip marked as a 390x when it is clearly not?

  41. Tiffany Monyata

Way too many lines/models, I once was excited now I’m just frustrated and confused. And probably will avoid AMD gfx card.

  42. How can you say it has better yield if it has almost the same die architecture, are you saying that a new GCN arrangement will give massive boost in performance, well no sir that’s not how it works sorry to break it down to you…And Vram is resolution related, so no real performance gain there, it just allows you to play at the same settings at a higher resolution without runing out of video buffer memory….

  43. Passed?…No this only means amd will sell much less of those because the majority of peope who already have the older ones won’t be paying 40% more for a 10% to 15% performance increase

  44. Nice idea, but they are fast running out of time, and a whole new FinFET range would take more time than they have. Their margins are getting smaller, and so will their revenue. I smell a buyout within the next 2 years. By then, it sounds like they will be playing catchup with Pascal and Volta regardless.

  45. AMD are saying the rebrands are ‘enhanced’ and they will be DX12 compatible as well include
AMD VSR, AMD Liquid VR Tech compatibility, XDMA xfire tech, 8GB GDDR5. The Sapphire TRIX 390X and XFX 390X is already available on Novatech for £350. There were rumours that the 390X will be a full fat 290X (Hawaii gpu) with 3072 stream processors, but it doesn’t seem to be the case. Many NVidia troglodytes are slagging off AMD for the 300X series rebrands but what these hogs are forgetting is that Nvidia has a far more prolific history for rebranding. All the NVidia 200, 400, 500, 600, 700 series were ALL rebrands (except for the top dog 280gtx, 480gtx, 580gtx, 680gtx, 780gtx). 17 months ago, I had a pair of Zotac 770gtx in sli and it was basically an overclocked 680gtx. Yet these NVidia trolls are deaf, dumb and blind wrt the NVidia rebrands.

  46. With such extreme negative comments from viewers, it is no wonder AMD is skittish about Kitguru. Gizfreak, The R9 290 cost $400 at launch and the R9 390 with 8GB video RAM is $329 at Newegg. If you want AMD, buy the R9 390.
Julio Sencadas the R9 390X is considerably faster than your HD 7870, no matter what Leo says.
