Batman: Arkham Knight collector’s edition cancelled

Just a week before Rocksteady's finale to the Batman Arkham Series is set to release, Warner Bros has canned the game's collector's edition. The £150 version of the game contained a scale replica of the Batmobile featured in the game but unfortunately, nobody will be getting their hands on it, despite pre-orders opening up last year.

Warner Bros announced the cancellation in a forum post, blaming “unforseen circumstances” with production: “We regret to inform you that we are not able to release the Batmobile Collector's Edition of Batman: Arkham Knight due to unforeseen circumstances that greatly compromised the quality of this extremely limited run of product”.

Refunds will be provided by retailers that accepted pre-order, although Warner Bros failed to let us know exactly why it took this long to let us know about the cancellation. The game is days away so a cancellation of one of the editions this late is very odd indeed.

That said, if there was a quality issue, it is probably for the best that the Batmobile edition not be sold. There is some good news though, the New 52 skin pack, which comes with new skins of Nightwing, Robin and of course, Batman, will be made free for everyone.

KitGuru Says: While a cancellation this late in the game was pretty unexpected, it isn't unheard of. Heck, Watch Dogs was delayed by Ubisoft around two weeks ahead of its original release date so these things do happen. However, it wouldn't hurt Warner Bros to be more upfront with their customers about issues instead of leaving everything to the last minute.

KitGuru Games: Omni-movement culminates 30 years of FPS innovation

Black Ops 6 is officially here, bringing the innovative new Omni-movement system to the game. While on the surface a relatively simple change, I argue that Treyarch intimately studied DOOM and the past 30 years of first-person shooter evolution to craft one of the most satisfying gameplay systems yet.

To get the full version of Arkham Knight on Steam is €81 here in France, am I the only one who thinks current PC games prices are getting a little silly ? I can’t imagine what the collectors edition would sell for now if it hadn’t been cancelled.

  3. You definitely have to shop around a bit nowadays. For instance, Arkham Knight (base game) can be found for just under £15 online from the UK (which I find to be very reasonable!)

Or do like I have and buy 2xTi’s lol 😀

The base game here is €50 on Steam which would be the maximum price i’d expect to pay for the full version. And reading all the stories people have had about getting stolen keys and being left with nothing has stopped me buying from anyone but steam or humble these days.
I’d cheerfully pay £15 for it if the vendor could guarantee me the code is genuine and not been bought with a stolen credit card or anything else.

  5. the game was actually only 25£ on GMG for a LOT of time. and GmG is an official reseller. no G2A bullshit.
