So Windows 10 is on the way and those of you who own a genuine license for either Windows 7 or Windows 8.1 will be getting the free upgrade on the 29th of July. However, Microsoft had not fully detailed exactly which version of the operating system you would be upgrading to until now.
On a new Windows 10 question and answer page, Microsoft tried to answer quite a few common questions about the upcoming upgrade, including details on exactly which version of Windows 10 users will be receiving, as there are quite a few, which we have reported on previously.
Those who own a genuine copy of Windows 7 starter edition, home basic or home premium will get upgraded to a copy of Windows 10 Home, as you would expect. Those running Windows 7 Ultimate or Windows 7 Pro will get Windows 10 Pro.
On the Windows 8.1 side, those who own the standard edition will get Windows 10 Home while those who own Windows 8.1 Pro or 8.1 Pro for Students will get Windows 10 Pro. Everyone running Windows 8.1 Mobile will get an upgrade to Windows 10.

Yep clear as mud. So which are they offering 32 or 64 bit? If you have 7 pro 32 can you get 10 pro 64?
It will probably be mix and match so to speak. I’m sure they will give you the option to upgrade to 64 if you want regardless if you are currently running a 64 bit version or not.
x86/x64 hasn;t matter since Vista, The key they give you will work on ether arch..
heres the thing though since this is a Upgrade pushed Via WU, If your on x86 the update pushed via WU will be X86,
If you wish to go from x86 to x64, You will ether need to skip the upgraded via WU and Download a X64 iso and use the key MS gives you to do a clean install or Upgraded to win10 via WU and then do a clean install after to x64,
ether way users can find a way to go from x86 to x64 for win10, just might be a little more time consuming then normal

what ever there upgrading from and installed with a generic install key for that version.. And a big happy water mark reminding them to buy a real copy in the bottom right hand corner of the desktop

Well it’s run fine atm no driver problem,game run “ok” but you should be safe and not install it on main pc like i did. untill release ofc

if you don’t have oem key in UEFI bios then don’t upgrade, you will have only problems, since new copy will wipe out old installation with all hacks you had (for example KMS Pico). Even if you get a new key, license system probably will work on old key with some complex algorithm converting it to new one. I don’t know how it works if you have cracked copy as retail though.
How about Windows 8.1 Single Language?
You won’t get it until you update.
If you have Win7 pro 32bit, you get Win10 pro 32bit.
You can go for 64bit, but you will lose your programs and files in the upgrade.
If you are OK with clean install, then yes, you can get 64bit.

well i activated windows with windows loader so… what would happen if i tried to upgrade… im not going to im just curious, ill probably buy win10 with my next cpu change.
The ability to display the Windows 10 notification is provided via a Windows Update.
So it may be linked to that as to why you don’t see it.
There is no update. It’s a notification to reserve the upgrade to Windows 10.
You won’t get the notification until you update Windows 8 through Windows Update. That’s how I got mine.
