Nvidia shows off Gameworks effects in Batman: Arkham Knight

Rocksteady's finale to the Batman: Arkham series is due to launch in two weeks and just like the past titles in the series, this one is backed by Nvidia and the Gameworks program. Not only will buyers of certain Nvidia graphics cards get Arkham Knight for free, but Nvidia users will also have access to some specific graphical effects, such as HBAO+ lighting or interactive smoke and fog.

Now Gameworks isn't anything new but Arkham Knight will have quite the array of Nvidia-specific features, like PhysX destruction, enhanced rain, interactive paper debris and interactive smoke and fog. All of the effects are demonstrated in the video below: [yframe url='http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zsjmLNZtvxk']

Arkham-Knight-Batman-600x300

Batman Arkham Knight was originally supposed to launch in October last year. However, after a few delays, the game is finally landing on the 23rd of June.

The game takes place in a fully open Gotham City, with a new mystery character, the Arkham Knight, attempting to take on Batman. You will also be able to drive around in the Batmobile for the first time, which is something people have been hoping for since the series' launch.

KitGuru Says: I've enjoyed the last three Akrham games so I am looking forward to seeing what Rocksteady has planned for its finale. Are any of you looking forward to the last Batman Akrham game from Rocksteady?

  1. I hate the Arkham games for PC. During the story – I hit 90+ FPS constantly using maximum settings, the second I finish story mode, it goes to 15-25. Makes them completely unplayable.

  2. Unrealistic effects just to fill the screen. I liked physics in Borderlands and I haven’t seen better use of them after Alice Madness Returns, but the above video is a joke.

  3. JunkWorks, why bother?

“RAIN? PAPER? SMOKE? THOSE THINGS DON’T EXIST IN REAL LIFE!”

  5. Rain can be simulated easily with any modern system. You don’t need PhysX. In real life no batarang can push the air like that. In real life you don’t walk in a dumb full of paper debris.

PS Caps lock on doesn’t makes you post less invalid.

  9. So totally unrealistic in a comic book setting…
They have the capability of making things more realistic but decided against it considering the game follows a protagonist dressed like a hi-tech bat, beating the crap out of, mostly, mentally ill threats to which one even has the ability to control plants.
I think it might just be personal choice, but to me they’ve done the world justice with a little exaggeration.

  10. Yeah, Batman’s adventures in Paper Debris City, because that’s where Batman lives, based on the comic.

  11. Some people just want to watch the world burn. Others on the other hand just want to suck all the joy out of everything!
