First in-engine trailer for Total War: Warhammer is suitably epic

There's a few Warhammer fans here at KitGuru. I spend the odd weekend beating the crap out of Matthew's poor Chaos team with my Goblins on Bloodbowl, and more than one of us has spent ungodly numbers of hours in Dawn of War games. But Total War: Warhammer promises to give us something else entirely: an epic take on the (recently destroyed) Old World of Warhammer Fantasy. And now we have our first look at what it looks like in-engine.

As you might expect from a contemporary Total War game, it's very pretty. Indeed the opening segments feel like a pre-rendered cut scene, but shortly after it becomes clear this is exactly what the in-game warring will look like and it's glorious. Repeater cannons, steam tanks and Carl Franz himself hold the battle lines for the empire, while orcish hordes throw themselves mercilessly against hungry blades. There's a number of unique units on show, including giants, a Wyvern riding Orc Warboss and a few trolls and wizards too. It's all a spectacular brawl of Warhammer proportions.

Which gives us some confidence in the final product.

KitGuru Says: Although it's worth bearing in mind that not every recent Total War game has been a resounding success, Creative Assembly does feel like the best suited to take on the Warhammer IP. I'm pumped to send orcish hordes pouring into Empire territory. It will be nice to do it without Space Marines too, though it seems like the tabletop players don't have that luxury any more.
