Last night, we got wind of some market rumours suggesting that Nvidia was considering cutting down the price of the GTX 980Ti a bit in light of the release of AMD's Fury X. Now today, Overclockers UK has announced a slew of deals on GTX 980Ti graphics cards, with models starting at £509.99, rather than £550.
Reference model cards start at £509.99 from the likes of Zotac, Manli and Inno3D. It is worth pointing out that Zotac's 980Ti comes with a five year warranty, which is great for longevity. For some reason EVGA's reference board costs a full £600 but there is a decent price on EVGA's Superclocked 980Ti with the ACX 2.0 cooler, which sits at £539.99.
All of these deals are currently exclusive to Overclockers UK. Inno3D's Herculez GTX 980Ti is the cheapest, costing £524.99. Considering reference boards were going for around £50 higher than that just last week, this is a pretty good deal on a custom cooled solution.

I immediately checked the 980ti prices after seeing all the reviews for the fury x. I will need a new GPU next year to power whatever VR system I get, I have a 970 just now and with new games is struggles a bit at 1440p.
with Oculus rift you could have 2160*1200 in total, this is less pixels than a 1440p 16/9 monitor, but you’ll need more than 60fps, more like 80-90 for a good immersion
I have the zotac extreme edition on pre-order. Now I’m not sure whether to cancel that and just get the amp edition for 90 quid less
Waiting for the market to settle and then maybe probably picking up a 2nd 980.. and then a 4k monitor to make that even slightly worthwhile lol
they prob cut the price because they prob stopped bundling games with them. lol
The last rumours I heard were it’d use two 1440p screens and the minimum spec required a gtx 970 for the rift, which is why I was looking at getting an upgrade. It’s only really the newer games that need more power though such as GTA5, I’m sure I could get most of my library running around 90fps with a few tweaks to the settings. I’ll have to check the rifts website and see if they mention the specs yet.
Yes the recommanded spec is gtx 970 or r9 290, but there’s no more rumours, the official specs of the oculus rift are known, it’s two 1080*1200 screens
You’ll not find anything useful on the website, but it was said at the stream when oculus showed the actual design of the rift
ah ok, so I could maybe wait for a gtx 1080 or whatever the next generation will be, that should give me plenty of time to save up. Thanks Simon !
