EA this week has revealed that it will soon re-brand Origin accounts as ‘EA accounts' … a move that won't really have an impact on much at all. It seems that EA wants its brand to be better represented across its varying games and services, so while the Origin client will still be named as such, your actual EA account will carry over to all games, sites and services.
This means people won't need to have multiple accounts depending on what EA game they are playing as everything will be fused together. In an email sent to Origin users, EA explained: “In the coming weeks your Origin Account will be renamed to an EA Account to better represent all of EA's games and services. Your account identity, preferences, and order history will remain unchanged”.
“You will continue to use this account and the same login credentials to access all EA games, web sites, and services, including Origin”.
So aside from the slight name change, Origin will still be EA's PC client but now you will be able to use that account across all EA games and services, removing any fragmentation.

KitGuru Says: Seems like a bit of a random change from EA, although it seems to be a good move as it will remove any possible fragmentation between accounts and future games or services.
