Samsung shows off Galaxy Tab S2

Samsung is set to take on the iPad Air with its thinnest tablet ever in the form of the Galaxy Tab S2. The Lollipop powered tablet was announced this week, coming in a 9.7 inch model and an 8-inch one in an effort to compete with both the iPad Air and iPad Mini.

The display sports a 2048×1536 resolution, which offers a pretty nice pixel density for the screen, which also uses Samsung's AMOLED technology. The tablet comes in a 5.6mm thin metal body and just like Samsung's latest flagship phone, the Galaxy S6, it will also feature a fingerprint sensor.

Under the hood the Galaxy Tab S2 makes use of an eight core Exynos processor running at 1.9GHz on four of the cores, with the remaining four running at 1.3 GHz. Samsung has packed 3GB of RAM in to the device, which will also feature a microSD card slot for storage purposes.

Both models come in 32GB or 64GB storage options, seeing Samsung move away from the previous 16GB low end. In all, the Galaxy Tab S2 is set to be Samsung's most powerful tablet yet.

KitGuru Says: Samsung has been trying to compete with Apple in the tablet space for years. However, with iPad sales starting to slow down, we could see Samsung begin to rise up and steal some market share.
