Dell to ship Windows 10 devices on day one in US

Microsoft's Windows 10 operating system officially launches on the 29th of July, though system manufacturers already have access to the day one version in order to prepare devices. Dell is one of the PC makers prepared for the 29th of July, with devices ready to ship on launch day.

While you may be able to go out and buy a new Windows 10 computer on July 29th, it is worth remembering that those waiting for Microsoft's free upgrade may not get the rollout on day one as the company will be updating users in waves, starting off with preview testers.

Right now, Dell's list of Windows 10 devices include an updated version of the highly rated XPS 13 laptop, an Inspiron 13 7000 Series, Inspiron 15 5000 Series, Inspiron 3000 Series desktop and the XPS 8700 desktop.

Unfortunately, Dell's day one stock appears to be reserved for the US, as Windows 10 devices won't be available on day one from the company. Of course there will be other device makers prepared with updated PCs for the launch of Windows 10.

Microsoft will also be selling Windows 10 on USB and disc for those who don't qualify for the free upgrade, though prices are still fairly high with Windows 10 Home retailing for £99.99 and the Pro edition, which is required to allow users to control when they install Windows Updates, will cost £189.99.
