Mortal Kombat 1 ‘Kross-Play’ launches in February

Ahead of the game’s release, back in September NetherRealm revealed to fans that the then-upcoming Mortal Kombat 1 would not include cross play – at least not at launch. With us now being a few months into the game’s lifecycle NetherRealm has revealed when MK1 will be getting the much-requested feature.

As part of the latest episode of the Kombat Kast (which focused primarily on Quan Chi and Khameleon) the team at NetherRealm reaffirmed the fact that cross play (or Kross-Play as they call it) will be going live sometime in February of next year.

In an exciting move, the team also confirmed that cross play would work between PS5, Xbox and PC. This is notable as while the last MK game – Mortal Kombat 11 – did feature cross play, console players were locked to playing with other console players; Microsoft Store users on PC were able to play with Xbox owners – and Steam users had been left out entirely from any cross-play functionality.

With that in mind, even though it is taking quite a few months to get the feature running, having full cross play with consoles and PC should help MK1 retain a healthy player base for much longer.
