MicroStar International on Wednesday released the first details about its upcoming Z170A Xpower Gaming Titanium Edition mainboard for the upcoming Intel “Skylake” microprocessors. The new motherboard sports ultimate overclocking capabilities, unique silver coating and even all-new solid-state chokes that should improve durability and overclockability.
One of the key features of the MSI Z170A Xpower Gaming Titanium Edition mainboard is its exclusive 16-phase digital voltage regulator module that is designed to provide very clean power to Intel Core “Skylake” microprocessor as well as guarantee ultimate efficiency, stability and durability. The VRM uses all-new inductors, which MSI calls “titanium chokes”, that promise to withstand higher temperatures, enable better overclocking and endure a longer lifecycle.
Another important feature of the MSI Z170A Xpower Gaming Titanium Edition mainboard is its new OC Engine 2 set of overclocking capabilities based on an IDT clock-generator that allows to increase BCLK clock-rates with 1MHz increments. The motherboard is equipped with a new OC Dashboard that is extended by a cable to use separately from the motherboard to avoid freezing of the buttons when using liquid nitrogen (LN2).
The Z170A Xpower Gaming Titanium mainboard is covered with a special silver substance, which makes it look very stylish and may even make mainboard a little more durable.
Just like the other premium members of MicroStar International’s Z170A Gaming family, the ultimate MSI Z170A Xpower Gaming Titanium features four DDR4 DIMM slots, four PCI Express 3.0 x16 slots for graphics cards or solid-state drives, two M.2 slots (PCIe 3.0 x4) for high-performance SSDs that can be used in RAID 0 mode for extreme performance, two SATA Express set of connectors, advanced AudioBoost3 7.1-channel audio with EMI-shielded circuitry, USB 3.1 and so on.
The actual price of the MSI Z170A Xpower Gaming Titanium is unknown, but it definitely will not be affordable since the company uses an all-new VRM with new chokes, brand-new silver paint, an external OC dashboard and has a lot of other advanced capabilities.

KitGuru Says: The MSI Z170A Xpower Gaming Titanium motherboard has all chances to become an ultimate platform for both extreme and non-extreme overclocking of Intel's “Skylake” processors. What remains to be seen is how well will the new “Ti” chokes perform and how the silver coating behaves in LN2 overclocking situations.
Welp, that’s probably the best looking MB I’ve ever seen… Damn good job MSI
That’s sexy! Wonder what the price will be. I’m curious how useful those OC features will be too
