BenQ unveils 35” curved display with 144Hz refresh rate

BenQ America Corp. has introduced the world’s first curved display with 144Hz refresh rate. The device can potentially provide unique experience in video games and it even has an advanced VA panel for great viewing angles and high quality. Unfortunately, its resolution is not really high by today’s standards.

The curved BenQ XR3501 display features an advanced 35” AMVA 8-bit RGB panel with 2560*1080 resolution and 178°/178° horizontal/vertical viewing angles. The monitor features 2000:1 contrast ratio, 12ms response time and 4ms grey-to-grey response time. The unique feature of the product is 144Hz refresh rate: so far no other company has introduced a curved display with so high refresh rate.

The new display comes with a DisplayPort 1.2, a mini DisplayPort 1.2 and two HDMI 1.4 interfaces. Unfortunately, the monitor does not feature any built-in USB hubs.

BenQ positions its new curved display as an ultimate solution for gamers, who need fast refresh rates, good color quality as well as maximum immersion effect. In general, the BenQ XR3501 should deliver premium experience to gamers, but many will find its resolution too low for its 35” size.

“Featuring a 2-meter curvature, a fast-action refresh rate, and a 2560×1080 resolution, the panel provides breathtaking visuals that surround users with edge-to-edge excitement,” said J.Y. Hu, Vice President, business line management at BenQ America Corp. “Players will experience their favorite games in an entirely new way while features such as Black eQualizer, RevolutionEyes technology, and PIP will definitely put them ahead of the pack.” [yframe url='http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EbVurg8t1pg']

BenQ’s curved XR3501 monitor is now shipping across North America at an MSRP of $999.

KitGuru Says: While the display in general seems to be rather nice, its 2560*1080 resolution seems to be too low for its size and price. On the other hand, if you want a curved AMVA panel with 144Hz refresh rate, you just do not have any choice here, the BenQ XR3501 is unique.

  1. I bet a 980TI is cheaper than one of those :L

  2. pity its only 2560×1080 and only HDMI 1.4 and its probably way overpriced think I’ll pick up a Pannasonic Vierra 4K 40 Inch TV for my monitor that comes with HDMI 2.0

  3. It’s not really a pity at all. That resolution means a lot of GPU’s will be able to handle it to a degree, and that ALL of the top end will.

  4. I have to agree. I’ve used a 2560×1080 for day2day work on a 34″ LG UW and it’s not too bad. The BEST thing is about this resolution is that something like a 980Ti will last a good good while B| It needs to be about £600/$800 though

  5. Needed to be 3440x1440p to be a home run. Next year they will be mainstream.

  6. ya it costs $1100 here in Canada! I want this type of monitor for $800. which is like ~$650 USD.
