Bungie might finally be working on Destiny for the PC

Back when Destiny was first coming out, rumours surrounding a PC version of the game were pretty rampant and Bungie even talked about it on a few occasions, since then though, things have died down and we haven't heard about Destiny's future on the PC platform for a long time.

However, Bungie just recently put up a job advert seeking a PC Compatibility Tester. Now what could a console game studio want with a PC tester? As you can imagine, a lot of people are now jumping to the conclusion that Bungie is working on something Destiny-related for the PC.

The job advert reads: “The PC Compatibility Tester will evaluate PC hardware-specific features and ensure various systems work together across multiple PC configurations to provide a great experience. This is a challenging area to test, so we are only looking for the most resilient and technically minded testers. If you love solving new problems on a continuous basis with an eye for detail, you will love PC Compatibility Test at Bungie”.

Now Bungie is a pretty big studio these days, so its possible that the company is working on something entirely different for the PC. Then again, we also know that Destiny has a huge ten year plan, with Destiny's second year about to kick off in September and Destiny 2 set to launch next year. Maybe Bungie is looking to get PC players on board before the second game launches, though we won't know for sure until an announcement is made.

KitGuru Says: While I've clocked my fair share of hours in Destiny, I've been hoping for a PC version of the game since its launch. At this point though, quite a few people have a negative impression of Destiny, so it will be interesting to see if PC gamers still care about getting the game at all.

KitGuru Games: Omni-movement culminates 30 years of FPS innovation

Black Ops 6 is officially here, bringing the innovative new Omni-movement system to the game. While on the surface a relatively simple change, I argue that Treyarch intimately studied DOOM and the past 30 years of first-person shooter evolution to craft one of the most satisfying gameplay systems yet.

It depends. Mostly, it depends on their approach to DLC and the very different PC ecosystem. If they try to sell the game new for £50 and then ask for cash for the DLC on top then no, people won’t be interested. If they release for £30, as GTA should have done, with all of the DLC included, and later participate in sales, then they might get some interest. They have to know that PC gamers will not pay £50 for emoticons. It also depends on how good a port it is, what their approach to modding is, how they treat the community, and what DRM it comes bundled with. The ball’s in their court.

  2. Ya thats why i havent picked up GTA V. I’ll wait now till GTA V is <$20 to get it. I probably would of paid $39 when it just launched on PC but not the ridiculous $69. As for this game its far too late, we already know how boring it is and dont need another port.

  3. If it’s a really good port, releases at around $20-25 with all the DLC, and comes with modding tools, will you buy it?

I managed to pick up GTA V on release day for £22, which is still the best price it has been, but that was with a voucher and on GMG, nothing to do with R*. If it hadn’t been there then I would still be waiting like you.

Despite everything that has surrounded this game I’m extremely excited to see it on PC. Graphically it already looks immense so I want to see what they can do with PC standard graphically capabilities and a lot of elements of the game I think is similar to the kind of game I would want to create. Now considering this game, or at least that franchise, has a 10 year long plan worth of storyline, events etc., real time game changing events being my absolute favourite feature of a game, I’m excited for this

  5. If Destiny releases at $39 CDN with all DLC i’d probably buy it. But lets be honest…it wont. £22 is around $45 CDN so ya i’d still want it to be lower to try out GTA V, i have no rush to play that game since it’s a single player experience and i got plenty to play like Witcher 3 and Elite:Dangerous.

  6. Well we have extra taxes so games are more expensive over here.

Anyway, I agree completely that they won’t do this. It will release at £60 for the base game and you’ll have to buy season passes and DLC separately, which will in turn be overpriced. It will be a mediocre port, and they won’t try to engage with the community at all, or release any mods. My point was only that interest depends on all of those factors.
