Microsoft has revealed the end of life date for its latest operating system, Windows 10. The soon to be released OS will reach its end of life support date on the 14th of October 2025, despite previous reports suggesting that Windows 10 would be the ‘final' version.
The new end of life date was revealed on the Windows life-cycle fact sheet, which shows that mainstream support for Windows 10 will end on the 13th of October 2020, with extended support set to end five years later. After this date, Microsoft will no longer provide regular updates for the software or any technical assistance.
Previous reports earlier on in the year suggested that Windows 10 would move things to a ‘windows as a service' direction. At the time, many took this to mean that Windows 10 would end up being the final version and would just be continuously updated over time, rather than revamping everything every few years.
This new end of life date seems to contradict that so we may end up seeing Windows 11 at some point after all.

I’m enrolled in the Windows 10 update for when it hits. As gamers, I feel that DX12 will make Windows 10 required.
What is kinda holding me back from reserving copy is that as I read you will be required to renew licence every year s:
Well as far as they state, you will get the OS free for the first year, so if you activate it within that year it is yours forever. If you do not, you have to buy it.

Really? I thought it was clear when they said that they will just continue to update existing OS and do major iterations anymore. Does it mean that license will be valid until that time and that after you’ll need to get new one or upgrade/refresh for newer OS or it’s version?

I read it at some website but yeah figured out it’s disinformation after MS worker confirmed it’s fake.
I know that but I read that like you get it now, it will be good for 1 year and then you need to buy it again… as I said above, got confirmation it’s disinformation so it’s all cool now.
I am content with what I’ve seen from the technical preview so far. I’ll take the plunge.
That must be the day that MS, google, apple and amazon join forces and turn on skynet.
