The Life is Strange series has captivated fans for years with its choice-based narrative structure – inspired by the likes of Telltale’s titles but expanded upon in a great number of ways both narratively and gameplay-wise. Since its release back in 2015, the first game in the series ‘Life is Strange’ has found a massive audience, now officially surpassing 20 million players.
Making the announcement on Twitter, the official Life is Strange page said “Happy Thanksgiving everyone! Something we are very grateful for – the original Life is Strange has hit over 20 million players! We want to thank each and every one of you for playing!”
Developed by Dontnod Entertainment, Life is Strange helped not only to put the studio on the map, but also revitalised the choice-based narrative genre, telling a highly personal and emotional story with massive stakes.
It is worth noting that 20 million players does not equate to 20 million copies sold, but regardless, to see a relatively niche game amass such an audience is impressive to say the least.
KitGuru says: The original Life is Strange was one of my favourite games of the last generation, and so I am happy to see that is has resonated with more than 20 million others.
