Samsung’s Galaxy S6 Edge+ will make your wallet cry

Samsung finally announced its Galaxy Note 5 and the Galaxy S6 Edge+ this month. Unfortunately for us in the UK, we won't be getting the latest Note device, but Samsung will be bringing the Galaxy S6 Edge+ to our shores, though it comes with an eye watering price tag.

The Galaxy S6 Edge+ was initially rumoured to be priced at £699.99 but it turns out, it will be even more expensive, with a £749.99 price tag for the 32GB model while the 64GB variant will set you back £829.99 off-contract.

Given the high price tag, the contracts from networks are also very expensive. As The Inquirer points out, currently only Three and O2 are accepting pre-orders, with the latter's recommended tariff asking for £49.99 upfront and an additional £41 per month for two years, for that you get unlimited minutes, texts and 3GB of data. O2 does have a cheaper contract on offer, asking for £19.99 upfront and £38.50 per month for two years, though this will only net you a measly 500MB of data.

The situation over at Three is arguably worse, with the recommended tariff asking for £99 upfront with a £41 per month cost for two years, for that you get 1GB of data and unlimited calls/texts. These contracts are just for the 32GB model, as you would expect, the upfront costs increase for the 64GB model on both networks.

While the prices are high, they are somewhat in-line with Apple's iPhone 6 Plus, which has gone on to be very popular. On top of that, the S6 Edge+ is a very capable phone, with a 5.7 inch 1440p display, 4GB of RAM and Samsung's latest 8-core Exynos chip.

KitGuru Says: Quite a few of our readers were disappointed to find out that Samsung would not be bringing the Galaxy Note 5 over to the UK. However, I would be interested to hear what you think of the S6 Edge+? It's a similar device in most aspects, aside from the curved screen- which I personally like. The price tag is pretty crazy though…

And samsung wonders why mobile sales are down!

    Price and battery………..

The holy grail a smart phone that lasts a week on a full charge….wouldn’t that be nice.

  2. Crazy move as the Note has been really popular here. Bad enough that they have taken away some popular features for it in the battery and SD slot, but not releasing it at all so they can concentrate on the more expensive “Style” version is incredibly short sighted. Given the similarities I don’t understand why they didn’t make the Note more professional (SD Slot, swappable large battery and maybe even a bigger screen) and the Edge + the one for the fashion concious?
